Lake in the Sky Air Show at Lake Tahoe Airport celebrates 24 years

The City of South Lake Tahoe is pleased to host the 24th Annual Lake in the Sky Air Show at Lake Tahoe Airport in beautiful South Lake Tahoe, California on Saturday, August 24, 2013 from 8:00 am -3:30 pm.

The Lake in the Sky Air Show has been described as “the best in the west” by one of the Navy’s participants.

This year’s show will include exciting aerobatic performances by several top performers including Bill Cornick, Jon Melby and Spencer Suderman. Festivities begin on Friday, August 23rd and run through Sunday, August 25.

Friday, August 23rd:
A "Pre Flight" Party featuring WWII Triple Ace, Bud Anderson and Mig Killers- Pete "Viper" Pettigrew and Mike "Wizzard" McCabe will be held at the Flight Deck at Lake Tahoe Airport. The party is be hosted by the Lake in the Sky Airshow committee and promises to be an evening to be remembered.

Saturday, August 24th:
Gates open at 8 am with a hearty pancake breakfast offered by the Kiwanis Club with the opening ceremonies at 9 am. Sky divers will open up the Air Show with a display of the National Anthem and Flag. Vintage Warbirds, military static display aircraft, and many more other aircraft will be on display. Homebuilt, experimental, Highway Patrol, CALSTAR, Civil Air Patrol and other aircraft are also invited to participate. Attendees will also see displays of equipment used by fire emergency response and search and rescue teams.

Sunday, August 25th:
Youths aged 8 to 18 are introduced to flying at no cost through the Young Eagles Program. Those interested in participating must sign up with a parent at the Air Show on Saturday, August 24th.
