Sully Sullenberger returns to Lake Tahoe as guest speaker of 23rd Lake in the Sky Air Show

For the second time in less than a year, Chesley Burnett "Sully" Sullenberger III will speak at Lake Tahoe, this time as a special guest speaker of the 2012 Lake in the Sky Air Show, Aug. 24-26 at the Lake Tahoe Airport.
Sullenberger gained fame when he successfully landed US Airways Flight 1549, which had been disabled by striking a flock of Canada geese, in the Hudson River off Manhattan, New York City, on January 15, 2009. All of the 155 passengers and crew aboard the aircraft survived.
Sullenberger is an international speaker on airline safety and has helped develop new protocols for airline safety.

Sullenberger last came to Tahoe on Sept. 3, 2011 addressing the Thunderbird Lodge Preservation Society.

Sully Sullenberger to Speak at 23rd Annual Lake in the Sky Air Show
The 2012 Lake in the Sky Air Show is pleased to announce that Chesley Burnett "Sully" Sullenberger III will be a special guest speaker at the “Pre-Flight” party on Friday, August 24th at the South Lake Tahoe Embassy Suites. Sullenberger gained fame when he successfully landed US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River off Manhattan, New York City, on January 15, 2009. All of the 155 passengers and crew aboard the aircraft survived.

This year’s Lake in the Sky Air Show will span three days from August 24th-26th, 2012, starting with a Pre-Flight party at Embassy Suites Resort on Friday, August 24th from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm. “Sully” Sullenberger will be the special guest speaker for the evening and will have a book signing as well as musical performances by the Manhattan Dolls.

Sullenberger is an international speaker on airline safety and has helped develop new protocols for airline safety. As of September 30, 2009, Sullenberger is also the co-chairman of the EAA's Young Eagles youth introduction-to-aviation program.

Sullenberger is the author of Highest Duty, a memoir of his life and of the events surrounding Flight 1549. His second book, Making a Difference: Stories of Vision and Courage from America's Leaders was published in 2012. He was ranked second in Time's "Top 100 Most Influential Heroes and Icons of 2009".

The Lake in the Sky Air Show has been described as “the best in the west” by one of the Navy’s participants. This year’s show will include exciting aerobatic performances by several top performers including Bill Cornick, Jon Melby and Spencer Suderman.

Young Eagles flights are scheduled for Sunday, August 26th with sign up for the flights on the day of the Air Show, Saturday, August 25th. Sullenberger will host a second book signing on Sunday at the airport located at 1901 Airport Road, South Lake Tahoe, CA.
