New Toy Store Opens in South Lake Tahoe

France Carreau turned the disappointing closing of one long time business into the creation of another. Her dream store, Tahoe Toys & Treasures, opens in South Lake Tahoe on July 1st.

Carreau owned The Yellow Pager, the local AT&T store for two decades when she found out at the beginning of the year that she was being replaced as the local AT&T retailer. She turned the shock into the energy needed to create the type of store she'd always wanted, a toy store full of educational, organic and fun hands on toys.

The timing of her closing Yellow Pager couldn't have come at a better time since Harrison Avenue (the store's location) has been torn up for the last two months. She used the time to paint, re-carmpet, have shelving built and installed and ordering toys. While not all of the road construction in the area will be completed by the time she has her opening on Tuesday, most is done and parking stripes should be painted on the same day..just in time!

There is a large variety of toys for kids of all ages plus an organic clothing line and greeting cards. Kites, hula hoops, bubbles, books, games, puppet theaters, dolls and cars are just a few of the things you'll find at Tahoe Toys & Treasures. There is even a very popular collection of wall appliques for a child's bedroom.

Kids can read books in the specially created reading nook as well as play with the kitchen set or builders tools.

Carreau will have gift wrapping too.

Tahoe Toy's and Treasures will be opened from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays. They will be closed on Tuesdays.

They are located at 3053 Harrison Avenue next to Sno-Flake Drive In. Tahoe Toys & Treasures can be reached at (530) 544-8697.
