How do you spell F-U-N? Six awkward tweens vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime in this fast-paced, Tony Award-winning musical comedy that is coming to the stage of the Valhalla Boathouse Theater at Tallac Historic Site in South Lake Tahoe for three weekends in July.
The show will be held July 6-8, 13-15 and 20-23, all at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 and $25 and can be purchased here: valhallatahoe.showare.com/eventperformances.asp?evt=50.
Spelling their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, the quirky, yet charming students candidly disclose hilarious and touching stories from their home lives while learning that winning isn’t everything. A riotous coming of age story, complete with audience participation and improvisation, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a delightful and poignant crowd pleaser. There is a PG-13 rating as the show has a small amount of language and adult subject matter.
One of the musical numbers is slightly bawdy and deals with the inescapable fact that one of the young Spelling Bee contestants is facing the onset of puberty, with some embarrassing consequences.
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is presented through special arrangement Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. www.MTIShows.com
