Boathouse Theatre from October 3-5 at 7:30 p.m. Deanna and Paul, Cafe D’Automatique and Funeral for a Friend, all award-winning short plays will be performed each night.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The annual Valhalla Winterfest and Holiday Faire returns to the South Shore November 16-18 with shopping Friday through Sunday and a special Saturday concert in the historic Boathouse Theater.

The Winterfest concert with the Oakland Jazz Choir will be on November 17 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will feature holiday music and other popular selections.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Fall in love with the kind-hearted group of gossipy southern ladies in a small-town beauty parlor during the local production of Steel Magnolias at the Valhalla Tahoe Boathouse Theater October 4-7 and 11-14.

The all-star local cast is directed by Mark Williams: Ashley Wallick, Stephanie Grigsby, Diana Arington Evans, Ann Swallow, Ginger Nicolay Davis, Michelle Sennings.

Alternating between hilarious and touching, the play reveals the ultimate strength and purposefulness of sisterhood.

For the next two months, the Valhalla Boathouse Theater at the Tallac Historic Site in South Lake tahoe will be home to several concerts, starting August 1.

Valhalla Tahoe is presenting Broadway in Blue starting July 5 and running two weekends. The show, a revue of contemporary and classic Broadway tunes performed by some of Lake Tahoe’s best singing and acting talent, was created by Gabriella Giocomo especially for Valhalla. Giocomo was one of three finalists in Valhalla’s WordWave One-Act play script competition in 2017. When she came for the stage reading hosted at the Boathouse Theatre she was inspired by the space and submitted the show in the winter of 2018 for review by Valhalla.

The Beach Retreat in South Lake Tahoe is not your normal lake front hotel this season. It has been transformed into something from the North Pole. Walk through the grounds and look at their lights and holiday decor that cover every inch of the resort and stay on display until mid-January. All Winter Wonderland events are family friendly, and some are even pet-friendly. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all events.

Winning entries of the third annual WordWave One-Act Play Competition will be on stage, October 21, 2017, starting at 7:30 p.m.

For the next three Wednesdays, the Valhalla Boathouse will be filled with the sound of music as the final shows of the season are held in the historic lakeside location.

On Wednesday, September 6, its a songwriter celebration with Linda McRae, Rick Shea
and Ernest Troost starting at 7:30 p.m.

If you haven't been out to enjoy music and performances at the Valhalla Boathouse Theater yet, this month is the time to do so with a full lineup for all ages.

After watching the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee on opening weekend, we highly recommend this fun musical though not appropriate for those under 13). It is a Tony Award-winning musical comedy and even though far from Broadway, the local Lake Tahoe cast made it very entertaining.

Dirty Cello will be part of the Valhalla Art, Music and Theatre Festival when they perform at the Boathouse Theater on June 21 at 7:30 p.m.

Word Wave, a festival for readers, writers, and lovers of story has returned to South Lake Tahoe. The three day long Word Wave will feature readings, workshops, panels, music, and plays from October 21-23, 2016 at Tallac Historic Site.

Every culture has used, and continues to use, story to entertain, educate, preserve history and tradition, and connect and WordWave will celebrate those words and the story in all its forms for the second year on the South Shore.

Entries are open now for the second annual Lake Tahoe WordWave One-Act Play Competition. “WordWave, A Festival of Story at Lake Tahoe,” will return Oct. 21-23 to the Tallac Historic Site in South Lake Tahoe, Calif. Winners of the play competition receive a $500 cash prize and the chance to see their work directed and produced as a staged reading on the historic Boathouse Theatre stage.

The vendor pairings for the 6th Annual Sample the Sierra have been announced. Approximately 54 local restaurants, wineries, breweries, distilleries, farmers and producers will participate in the one-day farm-to-fork festival on Sunday, September 6 at Bijou Community Park in South Lake Tahoe, CA.

Considered one of the founding fathers of Americana, singer songwriter Jimmy LaFave will be at the Valhalla Boathouse Theater on Wednesday, August 12.

Enjoy a Tahoe afternoon on the lawn at the historic Valhalla on Sunday, August 2 when the Sacramento band, Richie Lawrence and the Yolos perform.

Rain or shine, the concert will go on. If it rains, all will be moved indoors to the Boathouse Theater. This will be the last in Valhalla's FREE Concert on the Lawn series which is part of the Valhalla Art, Music & Theatre Festival.

The band is a mix of jazz, French folk and country, with original music.

“The course of true love never did run smooth," wrote William Shakespeare in his most famous comedy, 'A Midsummer Night’s Dream.' Fans of the Bard are in for a treat as talented South Tahoe High students bring back their hit play to the Valhalla Boathouse Theater.

The play will be presented with a Tahoe Twist by Tahoe South's acclaimed young adult theatre and promises to keep you in stitches. Director Nannette Niven has a cast of 20 including Bjorn Hedqvist, Stephanie Hernandez, Zoe Greco, Tyler Martin, Steve Huerta, Zane Brady, Hunter Turney and Jered Stowell.

June Joplin, the beloved owner of Comma Coffee in Carson City is a talented jazz vocalist who is bringing her show, Me and Bobby McGee, to the Valhalla Art, Music and Theatre Festival in South Lake Tahoe on July 15.

The show will be in the historic 1920's boat house turned theater located at the Tallac Historic Site.
