COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials say another 25 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed Friday. South Lake Tahoe did not lead the group which is the norm and had five positive cases. El Dorado Hills had 14, Greater Placerville with 3, Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue had two, and one in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz. Of the new cases, four are under the age of 18, 15 aged 18-49, three aged 50-64 and three aged 65 and older.

Another 285 tests for coronavirus were given in the county. 260 negative results were returned and there have been 14 assumed recoveries. At this time there are an assumed 166.

There has been no change in the number of hospitalized cases with currently two in the ICU. There are currently no suspected cases of COVID-19 in the hospital.

The new dashboard shows cases by episode date, not by the date El Dorado County Public Health was notified about the new case. Episode date is the earliest of the following dates: (symptom onset date, diagnosis date, specimen collection date, date received, or date of death) and serves as the best approximation of the date of infection.

The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 3.6 percent, and the 14-day rate of new cases is 120. The Lake Tahoe region is High (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 100 or greater) along with El Dorado Hills. Much of the balance of the county is Moderate (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 26-99).

County-wide there have been 827 cases with 388 of those in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Strawberry, and Tahoma).

Quad-Counties - Carson City, Douglas, Storey, Lyon

Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) is reporting fifteen new cases and eleven recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 869, with 688 recoveries, and fifteen deaths, 166 cases remain active.

The new cases are:
• An adult female Carson City resident in her teens with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Lyon County resident in his 60’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Lyon County resident in her 60’s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Carson City resident in her 20’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Lyon County resident in her 20’s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Lyon County resident in her 50’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• An adult male Carson City resident in his teens with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Carson City resident in her 40’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Carson City resident in her 30’s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Carson City resident in her 20’s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Lyon County resident in his 30’s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• An adult male Carson City resident in his teens with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Lyon County resident in his 60’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Carson City resident under the age of 18 with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Lyon County resident in his 30’s with a connection to a previously reported case.

Carson City Health and Human Services is working to identify close risk contacts to prevent further spread of the disease. Due to medical privacy requirements and to protect their identity, no further information about the cases will be released.

Washoe County

The Regional Information Center is reporting 155 new COVID-19 cases and no new deaths in Washoe County since yesterday.

69 (+1) of the confirmed cases to date are in Incline Village with 0 (+1) active ones, and no active and two recovered cases in Crystal Bay.

Placer County

There have been 73 new cases of confirmed COVID-19 in Placer County since yesterday. County officials say the statewide reporting system is experiencing processing delays and figures may be underestimated.

Lake Tahoe area cases - 16 (+1) are in Tahoe City, 62 (+2) in Kings Beach, 8 (+0) in Olympic Village, 16 (+0) in Truckee, 6 (+0) in Carnelian Bay.

Their seven-day test rate is 10.8 percent positive, and 14-day case rate is 119.6 per 100,000. Seven-day increase is 16 percent, 14-day increase is 33 percent.
