COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials say another eight residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday. Of those, four are in El Dorado Hills, one in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, one in Greater Placerville; one in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, and one in the Lake Tahoe region

Of the new cases, three are under the age of 18, two are aged 18-49, two aged 50-64 and one aged 65 or older.

Another 101 people were tested for the coronavirus and 93 negative tests results were received.

There have been another 19 assumed recoveries with 114 assumed active cases.

There are currently no COVID-19 ICU patients at Marshall or Barton hospitals, and one suspected case in the ICU.

El Dorado County is in the orange/moderate tier of reopening. To move to the next tier, the yellow/minimal tier, the average daily rate of new cases needs to be less than one per 100,000 residents, and positivity rate of less than two percent for the previous two weeks.

The County dashboard shows cases by episode date, not by the date El Dorado County Public Health was notified about the new case. Episode date is the earliest of the following dates: (symptom onset date, diagnosis date, specimen collection date, date received, or date of death) and serves as the best approximation of the date of infection.

The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 1.7 percent positivity (specimens collected between Oct. 2-8), and the 14-day rate of new cases is 55 (-3).

The Lake Tahoe region of the county has moved into the High Tier (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 100 or greater). El Dorado Hills, Shingle Springs/Cameron Park/Rescue, Placerville and El Dorado/Diamond Springs are in the Moderate Tier (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 26-99) Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, South County, North County are in the low range (25 or less per 100,000 for last 14 days).

County-wide there have been 1,271 cases with 506 of those in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Strawberry, and Tahoma).

Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) is reporting 24 new cases and 5 additional recoveries in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 1,563, with 1,364 recoveries and 19 deaths; 180 cases remain active.

The new cases are:

Carson City Health and Human Services is working to identify close risk contacts to prevent further spread of the disease. Due to medical privacy requirements and to protect their identity, no further information about the cases will be released.

Drive-Thru Flu Vaccination & COVID-19 Testing for Quad-County Residents
There are more drive-thru flu vaccination and COVID-19 testing events for Quad-County residents this week. For convenience, CCHHS is contracted to bill most insurances. For uninsured we ask for a $20 administration fee however no one will be turned away for the inability to pay. CCHHS is not contracted with Tricare or labor unions. Testing is free of charge; first come, first served, no appointments or reservations.

The Regional Information Center is reporting 354 new COVID-19 cases and two new deaths in Washoe County since yesterday.

Lake Tahoe area cases - 34 (+0) are in Tahoe City, 122 (+1) in Kings Beach, 9 (+0) in Olympic Valley, 22 (+0) in Truckee, 9 (+0) in Carnelian Bay.

Their seven-day test rate is 2.0 percent positive, and average daily case rate for last 7 days is 4.1 per 100,000. Seven-day increase is 3.0 percent, 14-day increase is 7.0 percent.
