Deputy Carl Howell's funeral procession from Carson City to Reno Thursday

Large numbers of law enforcement and community members are expected to join the family of slain Carson City Sheriff Deputy Carl Howell as his funeral procession leaves Carson City on August 20 at 9:00 a.m.
The procession will being at the Carson City Sheriff’s Office and end at the Reno Events Center on the corner of east 4th and N. Center Streets in downtown Reno.
All northbound on ramps will be closed as the line of vehicles moves along I580. The same will occur on I80 westbound, with traffic heading west at the "Spaghetti Bowl" being stopped between Rock Blvd and I580.
The Procession will make its way to the Center St. westbound off ramp on I80.
During this time, residents are advised to utilize surface streets or alternate routes. These ramp closures are expected to be short in nature however they will cause delays.
A large amount of traffic is expected in conjunction with this event and it is encouraged for the attending public to use the available downtown parking.
The Reno Events Center will open its doors for seating at approximately 9:30 am.
The Nevada Highway Patrol wants to say thank you to their Northern Nevada family during this time and appreciates the residents understanding.
