COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials today announced another 11 cases of COVID-19 in the county, three of them in the Lake Tahoe region, three in the Greater Placerviller area, two in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, one in El Dorado Hills, one in North County and one in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue. Of the new cases, eight are aged 18-49, four aged 50-64 (one extra as previous case birthday was obtained).

Another 201 tests were administered, 190 negative tests were returned. There are 11 assumed recoveries and the location of the assumed active cases are listed below, by region.

One more person has been hospitalized in the ICU (2/2). There is one suspected case in the ICU.

To date, two residents have died.

The new dashboard shows cases by episode date, not by the date El Dorado County Public Health was notified about the new case. Episode date is the earliest of the following dates: (symptom onset date, diagnosis date, specimen collection date, date received, or date of death) and serves as the best approximation of the date of infection.

The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 3.3 percent, and the 14-day rate of new cases is 85. The Lake Tahoe region is High (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 100 or greater) along with El Dorado Hills. Much of the balance of the county is Moderate (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 26-99).

County-wide there have been 896 cases with 419 of those in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Strawberry, and Tahoma).

Quad-Counties - Carson City, Douglas, Storey, Lyon

Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) is reporting fourteen new cases and eight recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 926, with 809 recoveries and fifteen deaths, 102 cases remain active.

The new cases are:
• A female Lyon County resident in her 50’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Douglas County resident in her 60’s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Lyon County resident under the age of 18 with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Lyon County resident in her 30’s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Lyon County resident in his 40’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Carson City resident in her 30’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Lyon County resident in his 20’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Lyon County resident in her 20’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Carson City resident in her 40’s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Lyon County resident in her 40’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Carson City resident in his 40’s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Carson City resident in her 60’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Lyon County resident with a connection to a previously reported case.

Carson City Health and Human Services is working to identify close risk contacts to prevent further spread of the disease. Due to medical privacy requirements and to protect their identity, no further information about the cases will be released.

The Regional Information Center is reporting 107 new COVID-19 cases and no new deaths in Washoe County since yesterday.

Placer County

There have been 26 new cases of confirmed COVID-19 in Placer County since Thursday.

Lake Tahoe area cases - 21 (+0) are in Tahoe City, 71 (+0) in Kings Beach, 8 (+0) in Olympic Village, 17 (+0) in Truckee, 6 (+0) in Carnelian Bay.

Their seven-day test rate is 4 percent positive, and 14-day case rate is 82.2 per 100,000. Seven-day increase is 4.3 percent, 14-day increase is 19 percent.
