COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. -El Dorado County health officials say another 13 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday. Of those, three are in each the Lake Tahoe Region and Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, five in El Dorado Hills, one each in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz and Greater Placerville. In this group of new cases are nine aged 18-49, three aged 50-64 and one aged 65 or older.

Another 205 people were tested for the coronavirus and 192 negative tests results were received.

There have been another 16 assumed recoveries. There has been no change in hospitalizations/ICU (0/0) but there are two suspected cases of COVID-19 currently in the ICU.

To date, two residents have died.

El Dorado County is currently in the red/substantial tier of reopening. To move to the orange/moderate tier, the average daily rate of new cases needs to be four per 100,000 residents, and positivity rate of less than five percent for the previous two weeks. See more HERE.

The County dashboard shows cases by episode date, not by the date El Dorado County Public Health was notified about the new case. Episode date is the earliest of the following dates: (symptom onset date, diagnosis date, specimen collection date, date received, or date of death) and serves as the best approximation of the date of infection.

The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 1.8 percent, and the 14-day rate of new cases is 56 (+4). The Lake Tahoe region just moved from the High (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 100 or greater) to moderate with much of the rest of the county (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 26-99). Two areas are now in the low range (25 or less per 100,000 for last 14 days).

County-wide there have been 1,001 cases with 447 of those in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Strawberry, and Tahoma).

Quad-Counties - Carson City, Douglas, Storey, Lyon

Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) is reporting ten new cases and one additional recovery of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 1,067, with 944 recoveries and fifteen deaths, 108 cases remain active.

The new cases are:
• A male Storey County resident in his 50’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Douglas County resident in her 40’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Lyon County resident under the age of 18 with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Lyon County resident under the age of 18 with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Lyon County resident in her 20’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Douglas County resident in her 50’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Lyon County resident in her 40’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Carson City resident in her 30’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Carson City resident under the age of 18 with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Carson City resident in her 20’s with no connection to a previously reported case.

Carson City Health and Human Services is working to identify close risk contacts to prevent further spread of the disease. Due to medical privacy requirements and to protect their identity, no further information about the cases will be released.

Drive-Thru COVID-19 Testing for Quad-County Residents
There are two drive-thru COVID-19 testing events for Quad-County residents next week. Testing is free of charge; first come, first served, no appointments or reservations.

The Regional Information Center is reporting 61 new COVID-19 cases and no new deaths in Washoe County since yesterday.

There have been 32 new cases of confirmed COVID-19 in Placer County since yesterday.

Lake Tahoe area cases - 23 (+0) are in Tahoe City, 78 (+1) in Kings Beach, 8 (+0) in Olympic Village, 17 (+0) in Truckee, 7 (+0) in Carnelian Bay.

Their seven-day test rate is 5.8 percent positive, and 14-day case rate is 5.4 per 100,000. Seven-day increase is 4.1 percent, 14-day increase is 14.1 percent.
