September 27, 2020 - 1:00pm
The I Run With Maud-South Lake Tahoe group is holding a rally at Lakeview Commons on Sunday, September 27 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. to celebrate free speech, inclusion and diversity.
Organizers said they'd like to see many of our neighbors represented at this fun, safe, family-friendly, peaceful event. They expect to have a variety of local speakers and an event that is "inspiring, uplifting and overwhelmingly positive for the South Lake Tahoe community.
Volunteers to help are also needed.
Originally they had music and an art section planned but due to the City of South Lake Tahoe's COVID-19 protocols those plans were changed.
What safety precautions will there be?
- Masks: 100% mask compliance is required. Masks will be provided for those who forget theirs.
- Outdoors: The protest is 100% outdoors, with good air circulation, and plenty of space for physical distancing.
- Timing: The protest is scheduled for mid-afternoon, removing temptation for people to eat, drink, or consume alcohol, factors that would increase the risk of COVID transmission
- No food or drink will be provided, removing temptation to remove masks or touch your face.
- Hand Sanitizer will be provided.
- The city’s Safety Ambassadors will be present with responsibility to encourage folks to maintain physical distancing. We could use additional volunteers, please reach out.
- Multiple announcements will be made during the event about the importance of physical distancing to keep things fresh in their minds.
