Wine Walk kicks off Labor Day Weekend at Heavenly Village and South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - It is looked at as the end of summer. Labor Day Weekend is filled with holiday barbeques and picnics, and some last moments under the sun before the arrival of fall and winter.

In South Lake Tahoe the Heavenly Village is hosting a kick-off to that weekend, a Wine Walk on Thursday, August 29 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. For a donation of $20, walk around the Shops at Heavenly Village and help raise funds for Christmas Cheer. The Carson Road wineries will be on hand to pour their wines. Enjoy food specials and chances to win prizes. Sign up under the tent in the middle of the village.

Thursday night is also the final evening of Live at Lakeview. Their 8th season on the beach concludes with J Ras and The Higher Elevation with the return of Miki Rae and Taking Root. Additional surprise performances powered by Tahoe Wellness Center include Winstrong and Stevie Culture. Takes place at Lakeview Commons on Lake Tahoe Boulevard from 4:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Free outdoor movies at Chicken in a Barrel on August 30 - A night under the stars with friends and family, watching movies on the restaurant's large screen. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and pillows and go see them at the Barrel for some family fun. They'll be open with their famous BBQ along with Hawaiian Shave Ice. Movie begins at dusk. Heavenly Village Days on Labor Day Car Show, Midway Art & Music Festival and Summer Concert Series - The Midway Art & Music Festival at the Heavenly Village Labor Day Weekend is non-stop entertainment with carnival rides, art show, fortune teller, Plein Air and caricature artists, jugglers, face painter and a classic car show, Aug. 30-Sept. 1. The Village will showcase 14 regional artists performing bluegrass, funk, country and rock ‘n roll on two different stages, as well as the second annual 5k run.

The Second Annual Midway 5k Run will kick off festivities on Saturday, August 31 at noon. Children 14 and under cost $20; 15 and older $30.
