LTVA to distribute almost $79K to local nonprofits; Applications accepted until Oct. 15

STATELINE, Nev. - The Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority (LTVA) will distribute $78,974 raised during the 29th annual American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament to local non-profits.

Organizations interested in applying for this funding can find an application at: https://ltva.org/american-century-championship-donation-request-application/. The deadline to submit is Monday, October 15.

For financial support consideration groups must be in South Lake Tahoe, Calif., or in the Tahoe Township portion of Douglas County and meet 501(c)3 certified nonprofit guidelines. Each must provide an outline of their mission, describe how the donation will be used and indicate impact in the community.

Grants will encompass four categories awarding increments of $10,000, $5,000, $2,000 and $1,000 based on:
1) Organizational Sustainability – significant impact on long term growth and stability;
2) Organizational Impact – increasing constituents served;
3) Community Need – distribution of services or support; and
4) Scholarships – for individual participation.

The LTVA in partnership with NBC Sports and American Century Investments previously directed an additional $66,230 through on-site volunteer organizations and other efforts during tournament week. Recipients of $55,000 were the Lake Tahoe Educational Foundation, Lake Tahoe Community College Foundation and Tahoe Douglas Rotary Club for their help in concessions during the week. The rest went to South Lake Tahoe Booster Club and Douglas County Search and Rescue.

In total, tournament partners will provide $135,204 to local nonprofits, agencies and schools as a result from the July tournament.

Recipients will be presented with checks at the LTVA Board of Directors meeting, Thursday, Nov. 8 at 3:00 p.m.
