SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The man who was hit by a vehicle on Lake Tahoe Boulevard on Sunday evening has been identified at 78-year-old Edwin Harshman of South Lake Tahoe.
Harshman was walking across the roadway outside of a crosswalk just before 8:00 p.m. when he was hit by a car driven by 20-year-old Marlon Cruz, a soccer player at Lake Tahoe Community College. Cruz left the scene and later that night turned himself in at the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD).
Cruz was arrested on suspicion of Hit and Run Causing Death and was held in the El Dorado County Jail in South Lake Tahoe on $75,000 bail. He has since bailed out.
An autopsy is being conducted Tuesday and the cause of death will be released at a later time. The case remains under investigation.
