South Lake Tahoe man in jail on robbery, burglary, drug and assault charges

A 24-year-old South Lake Tahoe man was arrested Thursday on several charges stemming from an incident at his ex-girlfriend's home the night before.

According to South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD), Jesus Corona Mariscal went to the former girlfriend's home on Wednesday night. He entered the home, allegedly grabbed her throat and choked her, then stole her keys and phone, and left.

SLTPD received a call of reported domestic violence. When they arrived at the home near the corner of Spruce Avenue and Glenwood Road in South Lake Tahoe, the suspect had taken off in a car. The woman who lived at the home said she was asleep when Mariscal entered, assaulted and robbed her.

Police soon found the car containing Mariscal pulled over with several people gathered near it. When officers arrived on the scene, everyone ran away. Since they knew who he was, SLTPD caught up with him on Thursday and arrested him. At that time officers found a small baggie in Mariscal's possession containing what is suspected to be crystal methamphetamine.

Jesus Mariscal is currently in the El Dorado County Jail on a $304,000 bail hold for robbery, burglary, domestic abuse, obstruction and drug changes.
