Event Date:
October 20, 2018 - 6:00pm

South Lake Tahoe resident Rocky Beaty has embarked on a long road to recovery after suffering a spinal cord injury while going gymnastics on May 28, 2018 in a local gym. Beaty fractured his C6 and C7 and was flown to Renown where he underwent a four-plus hour surgery, removing bulging discs, fusing his vertebrae, and placing two rods on the front and back of his spine.

Beaty, son of Rob and Eddi Beaty, is the brother of Chelsi and Janaye. The family has chosen to seek rehabilitation for Rocky at Craig Hospital in Englewood, Colorado, where he must travel via medical flight which costs approximately $20,000.

A fundraiser is being held to help defray the costs of the flight and rehabilitation at the South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena on Saturday, October 20 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. Family Skate with DJ Blake is until 8:30 p.m.. There will also be a Huck-a-Puck at 7:15 p.m. and sled hockey from 8:45 p.m. to 9:15 p.m.

The fee includes skate rentals: $10 for adults, $6 for kids. There will be hot dogs, pizza, snacks, baked goods and drinks for sale.

The South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena is located at 1176 Rufus Allen Blvd.
