Tallac Historic Site turning into haunted "Tahoe Terror"

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The story of Elias "Lucky" Baldwin has never quite been told as it will be during the inaugural Tahoe Terror at Tallac Historic Site.

Creative students and from South Tahoe High's Thunderclap AV Club and Key Club have created a haunted walk around the Baldwin House just in time for the Halloween season. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, October 19-21, guided and narrated tours from a host of spooky characters will take the public through the haunted grounds as the story is told of what happens to the servants and other unlucky souls at Lucky's estate.

Junior Ryan Ellis is the lead editor and tour guide and is joined by over 70 other students who have spent hours on technical components, layout, acting, lighting the walkway and much more.

As those attending enter the haunted walkway, instructions of what is to come will show on a screen in the trees. A guide will appear, telling all "you shouldn't be here." The story of the forest phantoms who haunt the lake and grounds unfolds as do the dastardly deeds of Baldwin.

Tours begin nightly at 6:30 p.m. (ages under 11 might enjoy the milder first tour the most), and the evening ends at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased along with booking a tour time at https://tahoeheritage.salsalabs.org/hauntedwalkway2018/index.html. Tickets will be sold at the door if available.

To get there, head north on SR89 and take the turn onto Heritage Way north of Camp Richardson. Follow the bend to the right and park at the Tallac Historic Site. The entrance is right off the parking lot. Come dressed for cooler temperatures. The entire haunted walk is outdoors.

The three-day event is made possible with a partnership between the students, USFS-Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit and Tahoe Heritage Foundation. Also helping are the Lake Tahoe Community College's Circle K Club, parents and other volunteers. All proceeds will be split between the STHS students and the sponsoring agencies. Thunderclap will use their portion to purchase new technology to assist in the live-streaming of all South Tahoe High home football games. They are also working towards the purchase 3G boxes to enable their broadcasting remotely.
