SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Barton Health announced today that Jeffrey Orr, MD, has returned to his hometown of South Lake Tahoe to join its network of talented orthopedic surgeons.
Dr. Orr received his medical doctorate from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. He conducted his orthopedic surgery residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. He completed his fellowship training at the University of South Florida. He’s an affiliate of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine.
Joining the Tahoe Orthopedics and Sports Medicine physician group, Dr. Orr is now seeing patients in South Lake Tahoe, Incline Village and Carson City. He will soon expand into the Center for Orthopedics & Wellness located in the new Robert Maloff Center when the state-of-the-art, integrated health and sports performance facility opens in 2018.
“The Center for Orthopedics and Wellness will help to increase access to medical care and improve coordination of treatment for the patient as a whole person, rather than focusing on just a specific injury,” says Dr. Orr. “This approach by our team will provide a unique pathway of care, from orthopedics to rehabilitation, to performance coaching and wellness training, as part of Barton Health’s commitment to providing consistently exceptional care.”
Dr. Jeffrey Orr will be expanding access to care with additional operative and non-operative services for patients’ orthopedic and sports medicine needs. Dr. Orr will have a familiar team member: his father, Dr. Terrence Orr, an orthopedic surgeon and former head physician of the Men’s U.S. Olympic Alpine Ski Team. Dr. Jeffrey Orr is also U.S. Ski Team physician and was recently in La Parva, Chile covering the men's speed team. This marks the second father-son duo within the Barton Health network of orthopedic surgeons.
“With orthopedics, you’re always learning, always improving, and working with my dad is one way that helps me do that,” said Dr. Jeffrey Orr. “His experience and expertise helps me refine how I view situations, and I’m learning things that I may not have learned until years down the road.”
Dr. Jeffrey Orr enjoys an active lifestyle, including water sports, mountain biking, and skiing. His passion for the outdoors connects with the dedication he extends to orthopedics and his concentration on bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles and nerves – everything that allows the human body to move and be active.
“Orthopedics isn’t just about getting people through their day; it’s about getting them back to enjoying their lifestyle,” says Dr. Jeffrey Orr.
