Two ways to help South Lake Tahoe area residents this Thanksgiving

Bread & Broth and Live Violence Free both have opportunities for the South Lake Tahoe community to help those less fortunate this Thanksgiving.

Bread & Broth is providing a free Thanksgiving Dinner to the community on Monday, November 20 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at St. Theresa Church. This is the non-profit's 28th year of serving meals to those in need.

300 people are expected to their special Thanksgiving Dinner which is open to all members of the community, just as it has been since 1989. They are asking for donations of key ingredients for the meal: Celery, carrots, mushrooms, onions, oranges, fresh cranberries, sausage and butter. Cash donations are also appreciated.

Please make arrangements to drop off your food contributions by Wednesday November 15 at the Church Rectory Office at 1401 Lyons Avenue in South Lake Tahoe. The office is open weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to noon, and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

For more information, please contact Kathie O. at 530.600.3605 or by email at jk.olsen@sbcglobal.net.

Live Violence Free wants to purchase 25 complete Thanksgiving dinners for their clients and is asking the South Lake Tahoe community for their support. Many of their families do not have the means to provide, purchase, or prepare a holiday meal.

Contributions will help them buy a $40 Safeway Holiday Dinner. Their campaign will end on Monday, November 20 to allow them time to reserve the turkey and all the trimmings.
