Continued dry weather pattern for Lake Tahoe

Overall forecast will have few changes as dry weather pattern prevails in the Lake Tahoe Basin. High pressure will remain over the eastern Pacific through next week, blocking storms and precipitation from reaching the Sierra and western Nevada. Temperatures will remain warm through the weekend with increasing winds for Sunday, followed by a cooling trend next week as dry cold fronts pass through from the north.

For Sunday, a shortwave trough passage across the northwest US will bring increased winds with afternoon gusts 30-35 mph and Sierra ridge gust potential of 60-70 mph. These winds will produce moderately choppy lake conditions during the day on Lake Tahoe and by late afternoon (closer to sunset) on Pyramid, although not quite
reaching the duration or magnitude for Lake Wind Advisories on either lake.
