City of South Lake Tahoe seeking applicants for citizen commissions and boards

The City of South Lake Tahoe is looking to fill vacant seats on four citizen commissions and boards: Planning Commission, Airport Land Use Commission, Building Board of Appeals, and Parks & Recreation Commission. They are soliciting applications for a City Council representative to the El Dorado County Commission on Aging and the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency Advisory Planning Commission.

Applications are due December 28 for the following positions

Planning Commission

The City Council will be appointing three members to serve two-year terms and two members to serve one-year terms on the Planning Commission. Applicants must reside within the city limits. The Planning Commission meets monthly assuming there is business to conduct.

Airport Land Use Commission
The City Council will be appointing two members to Airport Land Use Commission.
Applicants must reside and be domiciled within the Tahoe Basin portion of El Dorado County. The Airport Land Use Commission meets on an as needed basis.

Building Board of Appeals
The City Council will be appointing at least three members, but no more than five members to serve a two-year term on the Building Board of Appeals. Applicants must reside and be domiciled within the Tahoe Basin portion of El Dorado County. The Building Board of Appeals meets on an as needed basis.

Parks & Recreation Commission
The City Council will be appointing four members to serve two-year terms and three
members to serve one-year terms on the Parks & Recreation Commission. Applicants must reside within the Tahoe Basin portion of El Dorado County. The Parks and Recreation Commission meets at least quarterly.

The City Council will be making the appointments at a regularly scheduled meeting in January2021 (to be announced).

Applications are due December 4 for the following positions

El Dorado County Commission on Aging (Considered annually)
The City Council will be appointing one representative to the El Dorado County Commission on Aging. Applicants must reside within the city limits. The Commission meets monthly, rotating locations within El Dorado County.

Tahoe Regional Planning Agency Advisory Planning Commission (Lay Member) (Two-Year Term)
The commission includes the chief planning officers of Placer County, El Dorado County, and the City of South Lake Tahoe in California and of Douglas County, Washoe County and Carson City in Nevada, the executive officer of the Lahontan Regional Water Quality Control Board of the State of California, the executive officer of the Air Resources Board of the State of California, the Director of the State Department of Conservation and Natural Resources of the State of Nevada, the Administrator of the Division of Environmental Protection in the State Department of Conservation and Natural Resources of the State of Nevada, the Administrator of the Lake Tahoe Management Unit of the United States Forest Service, and at least four lay members with an equal number from each state, at least half of whom shall be residents of the region. Any official member may designate an alternate.

The City Council will be making these two appointments at their December 15, 2020 meeting.

Applications for all positions may be obtained at the City Clerk's Office located at 1901 Lisa Maloff Way, South Lake Tahoe between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Applications can also be downloaded from the City's website at www.cityofslt.us, mailed, faxed or emailed to interested parties upon request to the City Clerk's Office. Completed applications must be returned to the City Clerk's Office (email preferred sblankenship@cityofslt.us) by the deadlines mentioned above.
