North Lake Tahoe students get indoor snowboarding lesson from Olympian

LAKE TAHOE - In an ongoing effort to make snowboarding accessible to every kid, Burton Learn to Ride, Boys & Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe and Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows hosted local kids Wednesday, November 8 for an hour of indoor snowboarding with video instruction from Olympic halfpipe snowboarding champion Kelly Clark, Burton’s Jeff Boliba and instructors from Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows. The program, called Burton Riglet PE Snowboarding is based on years of successful teaching experience on-snow and uses Burton’s revolutionary Riglet Board, Reel, Hover Cover and Learn To Ride gear, and tools combined with a fun instructional video to teach kids the basics of snowboarding in their own class gym.

Through the Burton grant program, Boys & Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe recently received a Burton PE Snowboarding Kit compliments of the Kelly Clark Foundation and National Winter Sports Education Foundation to continue the growth of kids in snowboarding in the region.

The event is an extension of the Boys & Girls Club Learn to Snowboard Program that combines sessions of indoor Burton Riglet PE taught by Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows instructors with on-snow sessions at the resort, where participants receive complimentary lift tickets and equipment rentals to have the opportunity to explore the sport of snowboarding.
