South Lake Tahoe man arrested after gun discharged at concert

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A 30-year-old resident of South Lake Tahoe has been arrested on charges of Assault with a Firearm after allegedly shooting at the legs of a person after a concert at the Beach Retreat & Lodge early Sunday morning.

Officers from the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) responded to reports of a shooting on November 12 at 2:40 a.m. A concert at the Beach Retreat & Lodge located at 3411 Lake Tahoe Boulevard had just ended when an altercation between two people had occurred. Timothy Althouse allegedly shot a weapon at the legs of an acquaintance of his during the altercation. The victim was not struck by the gunfire.

An employee of the lakefront hotel followed Althouse to the parking lot of nearby CVS. SLTPD officers arrived and detained several people in the area as they conducted an investigation. Officers located a loaded .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun near where Althouse was contacted. The firearm was reported as missing to the Redding Police Department in 2015.

They determined Althouse shot one round at the person and arrested him. Althouse was booked into the El Dorado County Jail for 245(a)(2) PC - Assault with a Firearm on a Person and his bail was set at $75,000. As of Tuesday morning he was no longer in jail and there is no court date posted on court calendars.
