Snow Falls in South Lake Tahoe as Ski Resorts Prepare to Open

A few inches of snow fell at South Lake Tahoe overnight, helping local ski resorts prepare for opening day. Heavenly Mountain Resort opens on Friday, November 22 at 9 am with the Gondola and Tamarack Express lift operating. 1.5 miles of skiable terrain on 14 acres will be open for the first weekend.

Sierra at Tahoe received 9" of snow according to their website. They haven't announced an opening date yet as they are waiting for Mother Nature to do her part. Northstar and Kirkwood are also continuing to make snow when conditions permit in an effort to open as soon as possible, weather permitting.

Light snow will continue to fall on Thursday with temps at a high of 33 and a low of 17. The extended forecast is sunny and clear with a chance of rain on Thanksgiving Day.
