Tahoe planning agency to look at Homewood plan; Upper Truckee river plan removed from agenda

The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency will hear plans on the Homewood project on the west shore but has scrapped plans to discuss the Upper Truckee River Restoration project during a two-day meeting of the Governing Board.
According to a news release, the Dec. 14 agenda remains unchanged and includes a proposed adoption of the Final Environmental Impact Review and Environmental Impact Statement for Homewood Mountain Resort. The meetings are on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at Granlibakken, and Thursday, Dec. 15 at the TRPA offices.

The agenda for Dec. 15 has been changed to focus on specific Governing Board Committee meetings including the TRPA Board Governance Committee, TRPA Local Government Committee, and the Regional Plan Update Committee meeting. Removed from the agenda that day was action on the Upper Truckee River Restoration and Golf Course Reconfiguration project.

“The Governing Board agenda for December is filled to capacity,” said TRPA Public Information Officer, Kristi Boosman. “In addition, there is critical work going on in committee meetings right now that the Board needs to focus on in order to continue forward momentum with the Regional Plan Update.”

No new date has been selected yet for the Upper Truckee River Restoration and Golf Course Reconfiguration hearing. The Upper Truckee River project was also taken off the agenda for the December 7 TRPA Advisory Planning Commission. Information and documentation on the final Governing Board and Advisory Planning Commission agendas will be posted one week before the meeting dates at trpa.org.

The Washoe Meadows community recently filed a lawsuit against the California State Parks Commission and the California Department of Parks and Recreation alleging violations of the California Environmental Quality Act.

“We need to evaluate the Washoe Meadow community’s law suit,” Boosman stated. “However, TRPA continues to believe litigation is not the best path to achieving Basin-wide sustainability goals of protecting our environment, strengthening our economy, and building strong communities.”
