COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials say another 56 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday. Of those, 7 are in El Dorado Hills, 14 in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, 4 in Greater Placerville, 1 in Diamond Springs/El Dorado, 4 in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, 8 in North County, 1 in South County, 20 in Lake Tahoe region. There are three less awaiting address confirmation, awaiting address confirmation for 9.

One of those new cases, eight are under the age of 18, 27 are aged 18-49, eight are aged 50-64, and 13 aged 65 or older.

Another 300 people were tested for the coronavirus and 244 negative tests results were received.

There have been another 44 assumed recoveries with 906 assumed active cases.

There are currently 14 COVID-19 patients hospitalized with one of them in the ICU and one suspected cases hospitalized in the ICU. According to the state's website, six of those hospitalized are at Barton Health and the remaining eight at Marshall Hospital.

To date there have been four deaths. Public Health Officer said Wednesday there have been four other deaths the county is waiting on the 'cause of death' on their death certificate.

The county moved into the purple tier November 17.

The County dashboard shows cases by episode date, not by the date El Dorado County Public Health was notified about the new case. Episode date is the earliest of the following dates: (symptom onset date, diagnosis date, specimen collection date, date received, or date of death) and serves as the best approximation of the date of infection.

The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 9.2 percent positivity and the 14-day rate of new cases is 425 (+4) (these figures do not include today's data).

The Lake Tahoe region of the county is in the High Tier (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 100) and is joined there by El Dorado/Diamond Springs, Shingle Springs/Cameron Park/Rescue, El Dorado Hills, Placerville and now Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz and North County, South County is in the Moderate Tier (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 26-99). No region is in the low tier (25 or less per 100,000 for last 14 days).

We are reporting 8 additional deaths due to COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. The individuals were 5 Carson City residents, a Douglas County resident, a Lyon County resident, and a Storey County resident.

We are also reporting 168 new cases and 31 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 5,205, with 2,850 recoveries and 53 deaths; 2,302 cases remain active.

In Carson City there are currently 57 (+7) people hospitalized with 9 (-2) of them in the ICU. There are 4 suspected cases of COVID-19 in the hospital. 79 percent of ICU beds are currently occupied.

In Douglas County there are currently 10 (+2) people hospitalized with COVID-19 with 1 (-1) of them in the ICU along with no suspected cases. 25 percent of ICU beds are occupied (1 of 4).

Washoe County

The Regional Information Center is reporting 401 new COVID-19 cases and 10 new deaths in Washoe County since yesterday.

There have been 42 new cases of confirmed COVID-19 in Placer County since yesterday.

Lake Tahoe area cases - 71 (+0) are in Tahoe City, 180 (+6) in Kings Beach, 25 (+0) in Olympic Valley, 40 (+0) in Truckee, 19 (+0) in Carnelian Bay.

Their seven-day test rate is 5.8 percent positive, and average daily case rate for last 7 days is 21.2 per 100,000. Seven-day increase is 4.9 percent, 14-day increase is 16.5 percent.
