COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials say another 87 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday. Of those, 32 are in El Dorado Hills, 23 in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, 14 in Greater Placerville, 1 in Diamond Springs/El Dorado, 3 in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, 2 in North County, 3 in South County, 11 in Lake Tahoe region. There are two less awaiting address confirmation, awaiting address confirmation for 8.

One of those new cases, seven are under the age of 18, 46 are aged 18-49, 20 are aged 50-64, and 14 aged 65 or older.

Another 717 people were tested for the coronavirus and 630 negative tests results were received.

There have been another 43 assumed recoveries with 995 assumed active cases.

There are currently 15 COVID-19 patients hospitalized with four of them in the ICU and one suspected case hospitalized at Barton. According to the state's website, six of those hospitalized are at Barton Health and the remaining nine at Marshall Hospital. Each of the two hospitals has two patients in the ICU.

There have been three more confirmed deaths due to COVID. This brings the total of county residents who have died due to COVID to eight. The three additional deaths: A male from South Lake Tahoe, aged 50-64, a male from Cameron Park/Shingle Springs area aged 65 or older, and a man from Greater Placerville in the 50-64 range.

The county moved into the purple tier November 17.

The County dashboard shows cases by episode date, not by the date El Dorado County Public Health was notified about the new case. Episode date is the earliest of the following dates: (symptom onset date, diagnosis date, specimen collection date, date received, or date of death) and serves as the best approximation of the date of infection.

The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 11.2 percent positivity and the 14-day rate of new cases is 480 (+28) (these figures do not include today's data).

We are reporting two additional deaths due to COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region.
The individuals were:
• A female Douglas County resident in her 70’s
• A female Carson City resident in her 60’s

We are also reporting 104 new cases and 15 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 5,453, with 3,019 recoveries and 56 deaths; 2,378 cases remain active.

In Carson City there are currently 55 (+5) people hospitalized with 9 (+1) of them in the ICU. There is 1 suspected cases of COVID-19 in the hospital. 104 percent of ICU beds are currently occupied.

In Douglas County there are currently 7 (-3) people hospitalized with COVID-19 with 3 (+2) of them in the ICU along with no suspected cases. 75 percent of ICU beds are occupied.

Washoe County

The Regional Information Center is reporting 476 new COVID-19 cases and 2 new deaths in Washoe County since yesterday.

Their seven-day test rate is 4.4 percent positive, and average daily case rate for last 7 days is 31.9 per 100,000. Seven-day increase is 4.4 percent, 14-day increase is 16.0 percent.
