Storm delayed, forecast snow accumulation for South Lake Tahoe reduced

The National Weather Service in Reno has cancelled the winter storm watch for Reno, Carson City and the Carson Valley, but South Lake Tahoe will still see the affects of the storm. There is a delay in the storm's arrival and snow should start to fall late Tuesday morning and last through late Tuesday evening.

Snow may be heavy at times. The winter storm warning for Lake Tahoe is in effect from 10 a.m. December 13 to 4:00 a.m. December 14.

Originally slated to bring 10" of snow to lake level starting tonight, the forecast now calls for 2"-6" below 7000 ft, 4"-12" between 7000-8000 ft, and potentially a foot or more above 8000 ft. Snow levels will be near lake level at first, and rise above 7500 by evening.

With the storm will come winds 10-20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. The ridge tops could see gusts up to 95 mph.
