LTCC Nordic Center offers scenic trails for all levels

Recent storms have left enough snow for the Nordic Ski Center at Lake Tahoe Community College to open with seven kilometers of groomed and diverse trails around the 164 acre campus.
Cross country and skate skiers can enjoy the breathtaking views and great exercise right in the heard of South Lake Tahoe.
The LTCC CONNECT Community Education program manages the center with a number of affordable passes for the entire season or for single day use.
Trails that the public uses are groomed two to three times per week by volunteers, keeping the conditions as optimal as possible. Views of Free Peak, Trout Creek and the forests are offered all along the trails.
Beginners will find plenty of level terrain to learn on, and more advanced skiers will discover excellent steeps and trail diversity. Check the grooming schedule by visiting CONNECT’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/LTCCconnect.
Skiers have a multitude of affordable choices for passes. Local businesses can get two transferrable full-season Business Passes for up to 10 employees for $100. The Couples Season Pass is just $39, while an Individual Season Pass is $29. The Family Season Pass is just $49 for an individual family with up to six members. Currently enrolled LTCC and LTUSD students can get a Student Season Pass for just $10 with a valid school I.D. A single day use pass is $5. Season pass revenues help to support the continuation and growth of the Nordic Ski Center at LTCC, making it possible for the Center to continue operation in the years to come.
Purchasing a season pass offers skiers dawn-to-dusk access to the groomed trail system seven days a week, until the snow is gone. Passes can be purchased online, with an option to print a receipt. Passes can be picked up by visiting the CONNECT office in Room B107A, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. If the CONNECT office is closed, as it will be from Fri. Dec. 18 through Sun. Jan. 3 for the holiday break, then skiers should have their printed receipts with them on the trails.
To purchase a Nordic Ski Center season or day pass online, go to www.LTCCconnect.com. You can reach the CONNECT Community Education office at (530) 541-4660 ext. 717.
