Woman arrested on felony DUI charges after two-car collision in South Lake Tahoe

7:45 p.m.- A 44-year-old woman has been arrested on felony DUI charges after the Nisan XTerra she was driving collided with a Toyota Tundra on US50 and Ski Run Blvd. in South Lake Tahoe at 5:12 p.m. Friday, December 20.

She is currently at Barton Hospital being treated for an injury and to have her blood drawn (at her request). Once released she will be booked into the El Dorado County Jail in South Lake Tahoe, according to SLTPD Sgt. Nick Carlquist.

The felony portion of the charges come from the other drive being injured. The extent of his injuries are unknown at this time, said Carlquist. He wasn't sure if that driver was transported or treated at the scene.

6:40 p.m. Update: Both scenes along US50 have been cleaned and the roads are now clear.

5:50 p.m. Update: One person has been arrested on suspicion of DUI: Alcohol after their collided with another on US 50 in South Lake Tahoe Friday evening.

At 5:12 p.m., South Lake Tahoe Police and Fire Rescue personnel responded to the two-car collision that had air-bag deployment.

Tow trucks are removing the Toyota Tundra and Nissan XTerra from the scene and expect delays until the area is cleared.

It is unknown if there were any injuries at this time.

SLTPD Sgt. Nick Carlquist said one of the drivers is being arrested for DUI.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The middle lanes of US50 near the intersection with Ski Run Blvd. are currently closed to traffic as police and fire departments tend to a collision. Vehicles are able to move in the outside lanes.

At this time no other information is available.

At the same time on US50 at Echo Summit a granite rock was dislodged and came onto the roadway and highway crews are responding. According to CHP, the boulder is too large to lift or push off the road and they are waiting for a Caltrans snowplow to remove. No lanes of traffic are blocked at this time.
