Law enforcement prepares for possible New Year's Eve crowds on South Shore
Submitted by paula on Tue, 12/29/2020 - 9:03pmEven with the current pandemic, New Year's revelers could still flock to the Stateline casino corridor and South Lake Tahoe on Thursday so law enforcement will be prepared. With no SnowGlobe this year due to the pandemic, and Heavenly Village New Year's Eve activities canceled, it is unknown as to what will take place in an area that at one time saw 50,000 people in the streets to bring in the new year. Last year it was estimated 7,000 to 8,000 people took to the streets at midnight at Stateline and 6,500 at Heavenly Village for its 9:00 p.m. fireworks.
Compliance to State health mandates urged to keep South Lake Tahoe and El Dorado County open
Submitted by paula on Thu, 07/09/2020 - 10:17pmEL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - The Board of Supervisors held a meeting on Thursday to discuss the current situation of positive cases of COVID-19 in the county, especially in South Lake Tahoe where numbers are starting to grow.
After almost four hours of discussion, both amongst themselves and during public comment, the Board made the following action items but didn't vote on any county-wide orders:
Thousands in South Lake Tahoe and Stateline for New Year's Eve celebrations
Submitted by paula on Thu, 01/02/2020 - 3:53pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The ringing in of the new year was celebrated several different ways across the South Shore of Lake Tahoe.
At Heavenly Village in South Lake Tahoe, a season-long celebration concluded with a New Year's Eve celebration attended by an estimated 6,500 people. The festivities included a 9:00 p.m. fireworks show on the gondola, concerts and special activities all day long.
Arrests and medical issues down during second day of SnowGlobe in South Lake Tahoe
Submitted by paula on Tue, 12/31/2019 - 1:18pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. The second night of the 9th annual SnowGlobe Music Festival in South Lake Tahoe is in the books.
From a law enforcement side, things have been fairly quiet when compared to past years. On Monday night there were 35 citations issued by the Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC), all related to minors in possession or adults furnishing alcohol to minors.
The South Lake Tahoe Police Department arrested two people for public intoxication at the event.
"Successful" evening at SnowGlobe's first night in South Lake Tahoe
Submitted by paula on Mon, 12/30/2019 - 4:00pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - With no arrests made by the South Lake Tahoe Police, CHP or El Dorado County Sheriff's Office, and no medical transports, and a fewer number of phone call/email complaints, the City of South Lake Tahoe is calling the first night of the 9th annual SnowGlobe Music Festival a success.
25 minors were issued citations for alcohol issues by the Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) at SnowGlobe and they issued eight violations to businesses outside the venue.

Submitted by paula on Wed, 01/02/2019 - 8:54pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - An estimated 20,000 visitors attended the 8th annual SnowGlobe Music Festival in South Lake Tahoe which was held over three days, December 29-31, 2018.
The South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) called this year's event the best they’ve had from a violation and enforcement standpoint. They said there were no significant problems or issues of any kind.
Day 1 wrap up of South Lake Tahoe's SnowGlobe
Submitted by paula on Sun, 12/30/2018 - 7:46pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The 8th annual SnowGlobe Music Festival in South Lake Tahoe is underway, and after Day 1 city officials reports it was a "smooth start."
The South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) said they had no significant problems or issues of any kind on Saturday and made just one arrest between 2:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.
In comparison, there were 13 arrests on the first day of the festival in 2017.
Even outside the festival things were quiet.
Law enforcement and hospital kept busy with SnowGlobe issues

The predominately under-30 crowd come from colleges and communities hundreds and even thousands of miles away to enjoy a specially gathered group of top artists in the electronic dance music (EDM) field. An estimated 15,000 tickets have been sold for the three-day event which is held on the South Lake Tahoe community's newly created ball fields.
Along with the fun though comes issues common at most music festivals: noise, trash, drinking and illegal drugs.
New business on the way to town: South Lake Brewing Company
Submitted by paula on Mon, 07/18/2016 - 5:07pmSouth Lake Tahoe natives Nicole Riegel Smith and Chris Smith have returned to their hometown, this time as college graduates with an expertise in brewing beer and a desire to open a new business on the South Shore.
Plans have been submitted and the work will soon begin on the Smith's venture. South Lake Brewing Company. They have signed the lease for the long vacant Ace Hardware building on the corner of Tata Lane and Lake Tahoe Blvd.
Local businesses invited to SLT Police Department's ABC training

All local business owners with an ABC license are invited to bring their employees to a free seminar presented by the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) on Thursday, May 28 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Hosted by the South Lake Tahoe Police Department, the LEAD (Licenses Education on Alcohol and Drugs) seminar will provide information on what is acceptable I.D., the best way to check I.D., how to refuse service, signs and prevention of illicit drug activity, and more.
