"Successful" evening at SnowGlobe's first night in South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - With no arrests made by the South Lake Tahoe Police, CHP or El Dorado County Sheriff's Office, and no medical transports, and a fewer number of phone call/email complaints, the City of South Lake Tahoe is calling the first night of the 9th annual SnowGlobe Music Festival a success.

25 minors were issued citations for alcohol issues by the Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) at SnowGlobe and they issued eight violations to businesses outside the venue.

"This was definitely the most well-behaved group, it went really well," said SLT Police Lt. David Stevenson. "All worked together to make it safe and it showed."

Since the only issues were minor-related, Stevenson warned those under 21 that drinking by minors will be heavily enforced.

"Any underage drinking is strongly discouraged and they will most likely get caught," added Stevenson.

The City's complaint phone and email hotline for complaints was used 12 times on Sunday, and most were fireworks-related. City staff responded to all complaints with return phone calls and/or in-person visits. City staff also received several calls from residents who were pleased with sound adjustments made by the alteration of the stage and other changes this year.

RockMed, the event’s medical services crew, treated fewer patients than ever before, and none of them had to be transported to the hospital.

Even with the complaints down, SLT Communications Director Chris Fiore said they take all seriously and it is important to them to do right by people.

"We are thrilled with how well last night went, and look forward to two more successful evenings," said Fiore.
