Sierra State Parks holding Earth Day drawing contest for all ages

Age divisions are as follows; Pre-K and Kindergarten, Grades 1-3, Grades 4-6, Grades 7-12, and Adults. There will be prizes awarded to the winner of each age division.

Join The Sierra Nevada Alliance on Earth Day, April 22, 2020 for a Farm to Table Dinner prepared by Celebrity Chef Darren Weston, The Wild and Scenic Film Festival On Tour, or both. All proceeds support the Alliance’s efforts to protect and restore the Sierra.
The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a farm to table dinner prepared by celebrity chef Darren Weston at the Valhalla Grand Hall in South Lake Tahoe.

April 8, 2017 - 10:00am Do you love Lake Tahoe and the outdoors? Come learn skills for exploring the natural world around you and how to capture your adventures in a nature journal. We’ll learn to see more when we’re out in the Tahoe wilderness, how to identify what we encounter, and practice drawing and writing about all of it! Some materials will be provided but bring a notebook and pen if you have them! Make sure to dress for the weather—we’ll be going out exploring! Free and open to all children over 10 years of age. Additional meetings will be held on various Saturdays. The next two are April 22nd and May 13th.

Local curling and skeleton bobsled athlete featured on Mountain Resort Television
Submitted by paula on Wed, 04/13/2016 - 5:57pmLocal curling and skeleton bobsled athlete, Larry Sidney, will be featured as a guest reporter for Mountain Resort Television and their Lake Tahoe News Line featured on South Tahoe Now and seen on KAME-TV, My21TV.
Larry, a South Shore resident, is a member of Lake Tahoe Epic Curling, competing internationally with the Israel Curling Federation, and a competitive skeleton bobsled athlete for the Israeli team.

Lake Tahoe Home and Garden Show
Submitted by Anonymous on Thu, 12/31/2015 - 2:44pmThe fifth annual Lake Tahoe Home and Garden Show will be held Friday, April 22, 2016, from 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm, and Saturday, April 23, 2016, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
The show will return to the Recreation Complex at 1080 Rufus Allen Blvd. in South Lake Tahoe. Admission is free, and all attendees will receive a free ticket for a door prize drawing. The popular show attracts over a thousand attendees during the two days, and offers free give-a-ways, food, activities for the family, and vendors

Lake Tahoe Golf Course is hosting their annual Local’s Day with a BioBlitz/Earth Day event on Wednesday, April 22nd from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. BioBlitz is a species counting competition organized by Audubon International to create awareness among golfers and the community about the environmental value of the habitats supported by golf courses.
Lake Tahoe Golf Course is a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary.
Mobile food bank to be in South Lake Tahoe Wednesday
Submitted by paula on Fri, 04/17/2015 - 10:10pmThe Food Bank of El Dorado County will be in South Lake Tahoe with its Mobile Food Pantry on Wednesday, April 22nd from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the American Legion Hall to distribute emergency supplemental groceries to those who need it most.
At Risk Missing Person in South Lake Tahoe

The South Lake Tahoe Police Department is seeking the public's help in locating 24 year old Timothy Duran. He was last seen on April 22 and last heard from on April 23. Duran has no history of being a danger to anyone, but is prescribed medications for mental health purposes and can become very confused without them.
Brotherhood motorcycle member arrested for felony weapons, assault crimes, drug paraphernalia
Submitted by Editor on Tue, 04/23/2013 - 3:59pmOn Tuesday, April 23rd, 2013 the SLTPD SWAT team executed high risk search and arrest warrants at 2493 William Avenue, and took 46-year-old Anthony Corbin into custody for several felonies.
Anthony Corbin is a confirmed member of the South Lake Tahoe Brotherhood Motorcycle Club. In mid-March Corbin was identified as the suspect who severely beat a 34-year-old South Lake Tahoe man.
