Light Up the South Shore contest winners announced

The inaugural Light Up the South Shore Holiday Contest lit up the community with some much-needed Christmas cheer. Over 50 businesses and residents competed with their festive displays for the five coveted awards. The contest was held by the Tahoe Chamber.

Former Pro Bowl lineman Kyle Williams leads at the American Century Championship

LAKE TAHOE, Nev. - It's an unfamiliar face on top of the leaderboard after the first round of the 31st annual American Century Championship at Edgewood Tahoe.

Kyle Williams, former Pro Bowl defensive tackle for the Buffalo Bills, came into the clubhouse with a 25 in the modified Stableford scoring system used at the tournament.

Lake Tahoe Community College Foundation honors faculty members

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — Lake Tahoe Community College Accounting/Business instructor Dr. Jon Kingsbury, World Languages instructor Catalina Goralski, and Biological Sciences instructor Dr. Sue Kloss are all being honored for their outstanding work in the classroom and their dedication to LTCC’s students. Kenny Chesney returning to Lake Tahoe outdoor arena this summer

Kenny Chesney is the latest country star to announce they are heading to Lake Tahoe for the 2018 Summer Concert Series at the outdoor arena at Harveys Lake Tahoe.

Chesney's Trip Around the Sun Tour will stop in Lake Tahoe on July 3 for an 8:00 p.m. show. Tickets will be $69.50 to $149.50.

This announcement comes just a day after Grammy award winner Chris Stapleton announced his visit to the South Shore.

Chesney's show is now the sixth one announced for the summer on the South Shore, with more acts to be announced soon.

Grammy award winner Chris Stapleton headed to Lake Tahoe

On Sunday he won three Grammy's, and on Monday, Chris Stapleton announced the stops on his 2018 All-American Road Show and Lake Tahoe is on that list.

Stapleton, along with Brent Cobb and Marty Stuart, will be at the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena on July 26, 2018. Tickets will go on sale Feb. 9.

Stapleton won the Grammies on January 28 for Best Country Album of the Year with his "From a Room, Vol. 1," "Broken Halos" as Best Country Song, and Best Country Solo Performance for "Either Way." He is also the Country Music Association Male Vocalist of the Year three years running.

Blue Ribbon Award winners announced

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE – The winners of the 10th annual Blue Ribbon Awards were announced Thursday night at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe. Over 300 community members attended to celebrate the winners of seven awards that honor outstanding South Shore businesses, organizations and individuals for civic contributions, tourism experiences, customer service and entrepreneurial achievements.

If you haven't been out to enjoy music and performances at the Valhalla Boathouse Theater yet, this month is the time to do so with a full lineup for all ages.

After watching the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee on opening weekend, we highly recommend this fun musical though not appropriate for those under 13). It is a Tony Award-winning musical comedy and even though far from Broadway, the local Lake Tahoe cast made it very entertaining.

South Lake Tahoe, Calif. - Four members of the faculty at Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) are being honored for their outstanding work in the classroom and their dedication to students.

LTCC business instructor Treva Thomas was chosen by her fellow faculty members as the Distinguished Faculty Award winner for 2017, math and physics instructor Bruce Armbrust was tapped by LTCC’s students as their choice for Teacher of the Year, and adjunct instructor/Work Experience and Internship Coordinator Jenna Palacio was selected by faculty members as Adjunct Instructor of the Year.

South Lake Tahoe, Calif. — The smash-hit musical Godspell hits the stage at Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) this summer, and auditions are now slated for March 27 at 7:00 p.m. in the Duke Theatre.

Performances of Gdspell take place June 16-25, 2017.

They are looking for actors of all ages and ethnic backgrounds for this award-winning musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin) and book by John Michael Tebelak.

Dancing With the Tahoe Stars crowns new champion

A packed house at MontBleu Resort on Saturday night was on hand to see Blue Angel Cafe owner, and Lake Tahoe Community College Board Trustee Jeff Cowen win the mirror ball trophy for the 5th annual Tahoe Arts Project's Dancing with the Tahoe Stars.

Cowen, and his professional partner Rhonda Keen performed a Bollywood number that brought down the house.

Local couple win 2016 Sierra Vision Award for their Tahoe Mountain Lab

The Sierra Business Council announced the winners for their annual Sierra Vision Awards, and a South Lake Tahoe business and its owners were on the list.

They give out the awards to recognize and honor leadership in restoring and invigorating our local economies, communities, and environment.

Documentary "Ellis" being shown at LTCC Duke Theatre

Harvey's outdoor concerts just expanded by two with the announcement of two fan favorites to the summer of 2015 lineup.

Dr. Seuss Hats Off Exhibition Comes to Lake Tahoe

Few authors are better known than Theodor Seuss Geisel, a.k.a. Dr. Seuss, yet, to this day, his Secret Art and his fantastical Hat Collection are virtually unknown to the general public. Throughout his lifetime, Ted Geisel created paintings and collected hats which he secreted away in a hidden closet at the Dr. Seuss Estate. This is the first time ever that Dr. Seuss’s hats have ever traveled outside his home.

Celebrities Attend Grand Opening of The Landing in South Lake Tahoe

Model and television personality Heidi Klum hit the red carpet in South Lake Tahoe Saturday night to help celebrate the opening of the new luxury hotel, The Landing. She was joined by 10 time Grammy award winner Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, local business owners and associates.

On Nov. 2 at 7 pm Bona Fide Books will launch Brooklyn poet Lexa Hillyer’s award-winning collection “Acquainted with the Cold” at a reading at the Lake Tahoe Community College’s Writers’ Series. The event is free and open to the public.

“Acquainted with the Cold” is Hillyer’s first collection, and it won Bona Fide’s 2011 Melissa Lanitis Gregory Poetry Prize, offered annually in honor of the local artist who died in 2009. The book is concerned with the intersection of nature and city, and takes the reader on an invigorating ode to the seasons.
