Award-winning Poet to Lead Workshop at Bona Fide Books

Award-winning poet and editor Ravi Shankar will be in South Lake Tahoe on Saturday, March 31 to give a poetry workshop from 3-6pm at Bona Fide Books in Meyers. The cost is $25. A few weeks ago, I wrote about the importance of creating a vision plan in order to begin getting what you want out of life. Just ONE thing you’d like to be different. Many people when faced with this task don’t know where to start because they get overwhelmed with thinking about ALL the things they want to change. Suddenly their eyes glaze over, their thoughts race in a thousand different directions, and frustration or helplessness sets in. Making changes just feels too difficult or even impossible to tackle.

Children’s Book Drive to Benefit Kids in South Lake Tahoe

The South Lake Tahoe Children’s Book Drive a group project through the Leadership Lake Tahoe Program will be commencing on March 1st and continuing through April 1st 2012.
The book drive is being conducted in conjunction with the National Library Week and National School Library Month.

Feminist Artist Joanna Frueh Workshop at Sierra Nevada College

In this life, Don Ewing is a baker. In a previous life, he probably had his own TV show based on his life as a comedian who does shtick based on flour, yeast and water.
While South Shore is lucky to have Howie Nave as the emcee of all things standup comedy, Ewing, known around town as "Don the Baker," knows he can't compete on the same stage.
"I'm not really not funny," he says. "I'm not rich, either. I'm a baker's man who kneads dough."

Bookstore pops up at the Village Center

Shoppers who visit the just-opened Lake Tahoe Books and Art store in the Village Center won’t just be tackling their holiday gift lists — they’ll also be part of an experiment.
The store, which will be open through December and possibly longer, is in part a test to see if there is enough community support for a permanent, full-service bookstore at the South Shore.
