EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - There will be some very big shoes to fill when finding a replacement for retiring El Dorado County Undersheriff Randy Peshon. On Tuesday, June 30, Peshon will be putting his badge on for the very last time. For 43 years he's been in some level of law enforcement, the last 33 years in El Dorado County.

During his career in El Dorado County, Peshon has been at the forefront of change from implementing a change in culture at the jail in South Lake Tahoe to getting the new Public Safety Facility built under budget and ahead of schedule.

As soon as word spread that El Dorado County Deputy Brian Ishmael was shot and killed in the line of duty on October 23, multiple federal agencies were mobilized and went to work to not only find out who was directly responsible for the death, but also to uncover those in charge of the illegal marijuana grows at the forefront of the case.

11:30 a.m. UPDATE: Deputy Brian Ishmael of the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office died in the line of duty early Wednesday after being shot after arrival at a home in Somerset, Calif. They were responding to a call of theft from a marijuana garden.

El Dorado County Sheriff John D'Agostini held a press conference Wednesday morning, updating the public on some of what transpired earlier in the day.

Two El Dorado County Supervisors and eight other elected officials were sworn into office on Monday, January 7 during a ceremony in the Board of Supervisors meeting room in Placerville.

El Dorado County Superior Court Presiding Judge Suzanne N. Kingsbury administered the oath.

Board of Supervisors who took the oath of office were Lori Parlin, who was elected to represent District 4, and Sue Novasel, who was re-elected to represent District 5. It was a historic moment since, for the first time in El Dorado County the majority of the Board of Supervisors is comprised of women

The Elections Department of El Dorado County has released the results of some of the 23,000 ballots left to count after Tuesday's election.

The following is the updated ballot count as of 4:49 p.m. Friday, June 8. The department will release updates next week as well.

12/29/17 10:45PM Update: Press releases and letters between Sheriff D'Agostini and Robert D. Wilson, California Deputy Attorney General were exchanged today after South Tahoe Now first posted this story. The Sheriff has suggested that the Department of Justice has not been honest with their response to the media about the situation.

Seven elected officials in El Dorado County submitted a letter of recommendation to the Board of Supervisors, backing Don Ashton for the position of Chief Administrative Officer. The county has been searching for someone to take the top spot after a series of people were in the position. Larry Combs came out of retirement to be the Interim CAO on June 29, 2015.

Ashton is the current Director of Health & Human Services.

Tahoe Douglas Rotary has been a part of the South Shore community since 1962, and, as are the other 1.2 million Rotarians in the world, are bound by a commong purpose, Service Above Self. Viewers will follow the real officers and deputies of the department as they are involved in drug busts, Meth lab raids and pulling over drivers under the influence. You never know who you might see on an episode, perhaps a neighbor or two?

Sample ballots for the June 3 primary elections in California were mailed out April 25th, and absentee/mail in ballots are being mailed out Monday and Tuesday, May 5 and 6.

According to the mailed ballots, South Lake Tahoe county voters have the following choices in June:
