Ceremony to celebrate completion of new SR 89 realignment and bridge project in Tahoe City

TAHOE CITY, Calif. – A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on Monday, December 16 to celebrate the opening of the State Route 89 realignment, including the new Truckee River Bridge in Tahoe City.
Attendee parking will be located at the Tahoe City Transit Center along West Lake Blvd. The public should plan to arrive by 9:45 a.m. to park and walk to the ceremony location, which starts at 10:00 a.m. The bridge will be closed for the event.

Single lane closures will take place between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. near the intersection of SR28 and Stateline Road in Crystal Bay. Drivers should anticipate moderate travel delays as traffic flaggers and pilot cars alternate both directions of traffic through the work zone.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The third of four open houses to discuss the Highway 50/Main Street Management Plan for the South Shore will be held on Wednesday, November 20 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel in South Lake Tahoe.
After the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) approved the Highway 50 Revitalization Plan last year, focus has been on the Main Street plan (MontBleu/Lake Parkway to Pioneer Trail).
Trees vandalized at popular South Lake Tahoe lakefront park
Submitted by paula on Tue, 11/12/2019 - 3:09pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Nine pine trees have been vandalized at Regan Beach in South Lake Tahoe in what appears to be an attempt to cut them down. Each tree has a wide swath of chopping action across it with boring holes at the base.
The City of South Lake Tahoe Parks Department was notified of the damage on Saturday, November 9 and a police report was generated. Staff is calling the destruction "a wanton act of vandalism and abuse of public trust."
The Jeffrey Pines are estimated to be about 20-years-old.

Caltrans and partners officially open first of two roundabouts in Meyers
Submitted by paula on Thu, 11/07/2019 - 8:57pmCaltrans addressed what they reported to be an increase of accidents at the intersection of US50 and SR89 with a $7.3 million roundabout in Meyers, and today there was a ribbon-cutting with local partners to officially open it up.
What used to be a T-intersection with one stop sign is now a three-leg roundabout with a bypass lane. Years of studies, planning, environmental reviews, and engineering led to this past summer's build by Q&D Construction.

California Tahoe Conservancy moves forward with Conolley Beach project

During their October meeting, the CTC Board voted to spend up to $420,000 on the "Conolley Beach Public Access Project" for the execution of easements and other agreements to build stairs to the beach, construct a trail, add seating areas and stabilize the slope with boulders.

Between Echo Summit and the Meyers roundabout, the horrible accident at Elks Club, US50 through town and then the construction at Stateline that caused delays back to Zephyr Cove in mid-September. Luckily, the Stateline issue was quickly remedied, the highway at Elks Club seems mostly repaired, and the Meyers roundabout turned out great.

Submitted by paula on Mon, 10/14/2019 - 9:31pmIn an all-new vehicle in what can be considered a new size class for SUVs, Hyundai’s new Palisade has hit a Grand Slam (Salami, if you are Italian or a Yankee Fan), but not an ordinary Grand Slam, but this one landed on River Avenue or Waveland Avenue if you’re a Cubby. It is flat out the best SUV I have ever driven with performance, ride, handling, quiet, comfort and economy levels that put it immediately at the top of its class and almost every other class. Palisade is simply a Class act.
Achievable housing project planned for North Lake Tahoe

They are working with housing developer partner Related-Pacific Companies to develop conceptual options for a potential mixed-use commercial and achievable housing project on the site.
While the purchase represents a step forward in bringing more achievable housing to North Lake Tahoe, development concepts for the site are still in early stages and no project proposal has yet been brought forward for formal consideration or approval.

For those wondering about the old Caltrans traffic camera at the Y: it is being replaced and when received there will be a lane closure coordinated for installation.
The camera at the new roundabout in Meyers can be rotated to analyze traffic needs and will not be aimed just at the roundabout for the time being.

City of South Lake Tahoe unveils new logo
Submitted by paula on Thu, 09/05/2019 - 1:47pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A logo was presented to the South Lake Tahoe City Council on Tuesday, one created by a local designer as a brand for City publications, the website, social media, video publications, and other needs as they arise.
South Lake Tahoe had previously only had a City seal and that will remain as the seal.
Rise Designs of South Lake Tahoe created the logo that is meant to complement the City seal. Over time, the new logo would also be displayed on City clothing,
vehicles, and facilities as new assets are put into service and/or as funds permit.

Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen coming to Lake Tahoe

The celebrated multi-Michelin star chef and television personality will be opening the third restaurant in his chain inside the historic Sage Room at Harveys Lake Tahoe. It is planned to debut in late 2019.
The Sage Room isn't going away though, it's moving upstairs to the 19 Kitchen & Bar location.
Similar to the other Hell's Kitchen restaurants, design and menu elements will be pulled directly from the long-running hit FOX reality show.

The event will consist of a series of informational stations where residents can give input on the planning stages of this transformational project. The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) and the Tahoe Transportation District (TTD) are seeking comments as different options for the design of the corridor come into focus.

Outreach meetings, design options and thorough feedback were given to and received by the community prior to the 2016 election with the outcome being a facility that will allow for locals, visitors and tournaments to enjoy and capitalize on the Center including:
