The South Lake Tahoe Moose Lodge hosted another successful Annual Kid’s Fishing Derby on Sunday, September 22, 2019, at Lake Baron at Tahoe Paradise Park. This was the 17th year the Moose Lodge has hosted this free event for children in the Lake Tahoe area.
Registration began at 8:00 am and wrapped up at 2:00 p.m. Hot dogs, chips, sodas, and water were provided free to all registered children.

June 1, 2019 - 10:00am Early June events launch the 2019 Summer Festival at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park.
On Saturday, June 1, at 10:00 am, Wendell Huffman, Curator of History at the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City, will speak on the history of the Virginia & Truckee Railroad in Carson Valley, as well as the 150th Anniversary of the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad. This is a free event.

Lake Baron to be stocked with trout for 16th annual Fishing Derby

Hundreds of pounds of trout will be stocked in Lake Baron for the 16th annual Kids' Fishing Derby hosted by the Moose Lodge of South Lake Tahoe on Sunday, September 16.
Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. near the main entrance of the lake inside Tahoe Paradise Park. Hot dogs, chips, sodas and water are provided free to all registered
children. The event wraps up at 2:00 p.m.
For the event, the Lodge will be planting the Lake with hundreds of pounds of catchable trout ranging from one to five pounds.
Fishing poles, tackle, and bait are provided or kids can bring their own.

16th annual Lake Tahoe snapshot day to show tributary stream health

Over one hundred community members will gather on May 14 as the League to Save Lake Tahoe organizes the year’s largest single-day, hands-on citizens science effort to capture a snapshot of the water quality health of South Shore streams feeding into Lake Tahoe.
“By participating in the 16th annual Snapshot Day, volunteers are building on years of data gathered in these streams to provide valuable data information we can use to help protect Lake Tahoe,” said Jesse Patterson, deputy director for the League to Save Lake Tahoe.

Free Kids Fishing Day in South Lake Tahoe Saturday

The annual Dale Sare Memorial Optimist Club Fishing Derby will be held on Saturday, June 7 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Sawmill Pond in South Lake Tahoe. Fishing is free to all children up to age 14. In addition, the Optimist Club will be hosting a free raffle to give children and opportunity to win prizes.
Fishing tackle and bait will be provided for anyone who does not have their own.
Volunteers will be on hand to clean fish that are caught that day. The pond is at the corner of Lake Tahoe Boulevard and Sawmill Road in El Dorado County.
