Local Authors to Read Their New Book "The Crazy Club Gets its Start"

The Friends of the Library are excited to present Christie Rassuchine (Higman) and Robyn Lindner, two authors who grew up in Tahoe. They will be reading from their new book. The story is about a group of elementary school students who form their own club and deal with bullying, acceptance, and what it feels like to be the new kid at school. The characters in the story are in third grade, but the book appeals to kids throughout elementary school.

This is a free, fun event and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. Book sale and signing to follow.

An Evening of Music at SLT Library

Please join the Friends of the Library for an evening with CW and Mr. Spoons. This hot musical duo will bring their western ragtime guitar and ‘wonder bucket’ for a concert on the Library’s lawn. Plunk and pizzazz follow them wherever they go, singing both original and old time rags. A fun time will be had by all!

Cavity Creatures fought at South Lake Tahoe Library

Todd Borg to Launch his 11th Book

Civil War History Through Clothing at the South Lake Tahoe Library

The Friends of the Library in South Lake Tahoe are excited to present a Civil War history lesson told in an extremely unique way, by Paulette Grune. Her "Reflections of the Past", tells the history of an 1860's woman, through her attire. What a perfect way to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Gettysburg. This is a must see presentation for all.

True Holocaust Story told by Local Author

The Friends of the Library are honored to host Leon Malmed, the author of We Survived...At Last I Speak, the true story of his and his sister’s escape from the Holocaust, in Occupied France, with the help of their courageous and heroic French neighbors.

It is a story of goodness triumphing once more over evil. In addition to sharing his book, the documentary, "17 rue St Fiacre" realized by Daniel Meyers, a Steve Spielberg collaborator, will also be shown.

Roger Rosenberger shares his Wildflower Photos

Desolation Wilderness Talk at SLT Library

He will share his wilderness expertise, preparing us for a summer of hiking in this spectacular area.

Author to visit South Lake Tahoe book club via Skype

Gift wrapping helps Friends of the Library

Friends of the Library host holiday gift wrapping party

Love to shop but don't like to wrap? The Lake Tahoe Branch of the El Dorado County Library and the Friends of the Library will come to the rescue with a gift wrapping party, 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15.
The party also serves as a fundraiser for the library. Because of the failure of Measure L, the library's book budget is frozen. Donations of $2 per gift are requested for the party. All proceeds go to Friends of the Library and are used to support the library.

Supper Stroll Storyteller Night hits home, raises money for South Lake Tahoe library

Leadership Lake Tahoe produced a new kind of fundraiser on Ski Run Boulevard April 28 called the Unforgettable Supper Stroll and Storytellers’ Night. Event organizers Kalia Knutson, Jeff Sterns and Jeff Cowen aimed to combine three goals into an innovative event: raise funds for the Friends of the Library, promote local businesses during the shoulder season and highlight South Tahoe’s local history to promote pride in the community.

Friends of the Library offers free Trail Talk

Join the Friends of the Library for a free Trail Talk with the Tahoe Rim Trail Association in South Lake Tahoe at the El Dorado County Library on Wednesday, June 6, 6:30 p.m. Meet other trail enthusiasts and learn about what the TRTA does from trail building, hiking and youth programs as well as numerous educational opportunities.

Livestrong, American Century give $100,000 to South Lake Tahoe area nonprofits

The holiday arrived early for 27 South Lake Tahoe non-profit organizations Thursday, Dec. 8, as $100,000 in charitable contributions was distributed on behalf of LIVESTRONG® and the American Century Championship by the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority.

“We’re fortunate to have the support from LIVESTRONG, NBC Sports and American Century Investments to assist to the local community,” said Carol Chaplin, executive director of the LTVA in a news release. “In addition to an outstanding event which attracts visitors, our 22-year partnership also helps local groups in need.”
