Trash pickup challenge weeks with Keep Tahoe Blue, Jamie Anderson, Clean Tahoe and Waste Not

LAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev. - Busy summers come with lots of litter. Help the League to Save Lake Tahoe keep the Tahoe that we love clean by participating in Tahoe's Trash Pickup Challenge all September long. You can join them at in-person events, cleanup remotely or do both.
Every Saturday in September is a cleanup day. Join them by tidying up in your neighborhood, local happy place or one of the litter hot spots listed in the signup form. If Saturdays don’t jive with your calendar, don't let that stop you! You can clean up any day, any time.
Great Sierra River Cleanup

September 21, 2019 (All day) Join Clean Tahoe on Saturday, September 21st from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at Cove East for a cleanup along the Truckee River, followed by a beach picnic. Volunteers can meet at the Cove East trail (to the right of the entrance to the Keys Marina)and pick up trash on foot, or launch your kayaks behind Motel 6 and pick up litter on the river banks from the water. 20th annual Markleeville Creek Day during Great Sierra River Cleanup

MARKLEEVILLE, Calif. - Alpine Watershed Group, in partnership with the Great Sierra River Cleanup, will be hosting its 20th annual Markleeville Creek Day on Saturday, September 21, 2019. This event allows for the completion of important restoration work through several projects across the Carson River watershed. Volunteers will have the opportunity to plant willows in Hope Valley, remediate head cuts in Grover Hot Springs State Park, remove invasive and noxious weeds from meadows and riparian zones, or cleanup roads as part of the Adopt-A-Highway program.

On the morning of Saturday, September 15, Clean Tahoe and Keep Tahoe Blue volunteers scoured beaches, rivers, and meadows along the south and east shores of Lake Tahoe to pick up trash and debris as part of the 10th annual Great Sierra River Cleanup.

September 15, 2018 - 9:00am Join the 10th annual Great Sierra River Cleanup in conjunction with California Coastal Cleanup day. Hundreds of volunteers will be going out this day cleaning up the Lake Tahoe region on Saturday, September 15 from 9:00 a.m. to noon.
Bring your reusable water bottle, gloves if you have them and friends! Snacks and equipment provided.
A lunch celebration for volunteers will be hosted after the cleanup at the League to Save Lake Tahoe office at 2608 Lake Tahoe Boulevard, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150. Beer will be provided by Oskar Blues and wine by Robert Mondavi.

September 21, 2013 (All day) Help prevent pollution in the South Lake Tahoe area by joining the Sierra Nevada Alliance as they host the annual Great Sierra River Cleanup! Come and be part of the solution by helping pick up trash and recyclables along the river and lake. Meet your neighbors and friends and join us as we help protect the local environment. The cleanup hosted over 200 volunteers last year and prevented over 2000lbs of trash from entering the watershed! Great Sierra Cleanup Saturday around Lake Tahoe

Saturday is the Great Sierra River Cleanup with more than 11,200 volunteers joining together to scour watersheds throughout the Sierra Nevada. Hundreds of community groups will spread across 22 counties and 1,052 river miles to pull appliances, cigarette butts, beverage cans, baby diapers, tires, furniture, and more from the rivers and streams that supply the State of California with 65 percent of its water. This effort, in partnership with the California Coastal Cleanup Day, serves to promote good stewardship on all of our waterways, from the source to the sea.
