South Lake Tahoe activities: Sample the Sierra, Art After Dark, Canelo vs Golovkin

Going to be out and about in South Lake Tahoe this week? Here are some of the activities to enjoy in town from Friday to Thursday:

Great Sierra River Cleanup - Join the ninth annual Great Sierra River Cleanup in conjunction with California Coastal Cleanup day on September 16 starting at 8:00 a.m. Join hundreds of volunteers this day in cleaning up the Lake Tahoe region. (more info here)

Sample the Sierra – A farm-to-fork festival celebrating the best food, wine, and art in the Sierra Nevada Saturday, September 16, 2017, 12 – 5 pm. Bijou Community Park.

Sample The Sierra After Party - In South Lake Tahoe on Saturday, September 16 after Sample the Sierra, a new community event will be held to benefit Tahoe Youth & Family Services. Local Art After Dark at the Benko Art Gallery will feature live music, live art, dance performances, local food and drinks from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 at the door and $10 for Sample the Sierra ticket holders and locals (will need to show wristband or local ID at the door. Locals include Tahoe basin and extends to Placerville and Carson/Reno).

Canelo vs Golovkin Viewing Parties

On Saturday, September 16, in the Graceland Ballroom at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tahoe, watch Canelo Álvarez take on Gennady Golovkin at our Viewing Party. General admission is $50. Doors open at 5:00 p.m.

SambaDa Valhalla Art, Music & Theatre Festival - September 20, 7:30 pm – SambaDa – Boathouse Theatre, $23-$35 Dubbed the West Coast’s hottest Brazilian band by promoters, journalists and fans, SambaDá musically unites the Americas. Based in the rich musical traditions of Brazil, SambaDá also references salsa and cumbia, and blends them playfully with funk and reggae beats.

SeptOberfest - The Kiwanis Club of Tahoe Sierra is holding their 15th annual SeptOberfest on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at MontBleu Casino Resort starting at 6:00 p.m. There will a German buffet, Biergarten, wine tasting, music, dancing, both silent and live auctions, along with their famous envelope sales and stein holding contest. Discount tickets are now available for $45 until September 17, $50 after.

Australia’s Thunder From Down Under at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe - Friday & Saturday, September 22 & 23, 2017, 7:30 pm Australia’s Thunder From Down Under inside the South Shore Room at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe. Doors open at 6:30 pm, must be 21 years old to attend the show.
