Hello Lake Tahoe Unified School District (LTUSD) friends and families. We’re down to the wire and the District is very excited to welcome you back to another school year! BACK TO SCHOOL

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - If they were flowers on the ground or money in trees, most would welcome them. But they aren't. And love them or hate them, they’re back!

Miller moths, or the army cutworm, have become a nuisance in many parts of Lake Tahoe over the last few weeks, but not all areas have been affected. Those who have them around their homes are seeing dozens each night, swarming around their lights both inside and outside.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - As we say goodbye to 2018 and hello to 2019 there will be one constant in Lake Tahoe - sunny days and temperatures well below freezing as the sun goes down.

A cold front will move through the area overnight Sunday night into Monday morning, though it is a dry one. A brisk north to northeast wind will also make it feel considerably colder. As for when the new year begins at midnight, expect it to
be quite chilly.

PORCH STORIES is a fundraiser for the brand new SLT-based Black Ice Theatre Co. that combines the best aspects of Tahoe life - art, outdoors, and beer! There will be live music from Miss Molly Mae, food, a keg and a staged reading of the award-winning play "Everybody Here Says Hello" by Bay Area playwright Stuart Bousel. Bring your friends - and maybe a lawn chair or blanket - and grab a seat at the most exciting BBQ you'll be invited to this summer.

For 40 years, Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care (LTWC) has been helping animals out of Tom and Cheryl Millham's home. Every from bears to birds have entered their loving doors, and now they are holding a celebration of the first 40 years on Sunday, May 20 at Revive Coffee and Wine from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

There will be a ceremony at 4:00 p.m. acknowledging various people and agencies who have worked with LTWC as well as receiving proclamations from the City of South Lake Tahoe, El Dorado County, the State of California and from the U. S. House of Representatives.

Hello fellow anglers, it is that time of year to celebrate the new year and the Topaz Lake opening day fishing season. On Monday, Jan. 1, 2018 at precisely 6:46 a.m. will be the official starting time for anglers to begin fishing on Topaz Lake.

For those of you driving out that morning, be careful and mindful of other drivers on the road that have might celebrated to much the night before.

New York performer and choreographer Sebastiani Romagnolo grew up dancing with Marcia Sarosik at her South Lake Tahoe dance studio, and he returned to those roots this week to help teach the next generation of performers.

The 2007 South Tahoe High and 2011 New York University (NYU) graduate took time out his hectic east coast schedule to head west to visit family in South Lake Tahoe, and visits to town always include a stop by Sarosik's studio.

Many may remember his talent as he headlined many South Tahoe High musicals, and now he's entertaining audiences in New York.

Most places take just one day to officially "Pay it Forward" but one person in the South Lake Tahoe community has made it his goal to cause a ripple effect of kindness through the community for a whole week.

International "Pay it Forward" day is on Friday, April 28 and more than 80 countries and 70 cities across America have made proclamations to join the global initiative and make a difference by creating a huge ripple of kindness across the world. Small acts of kindness, when multiplied by millions of people, can literally change the world for the better.

Hello South Lake Tahoe,

As you reflect on voting for the Lake Tahoe Unified School District Board of Education Trustee in Area 1, I respectfully ask for your thoughtful consideration.

The doors opened at all seven schools in the Lake Tahoe Unified School District Monday, welcoming students back after their summer vacations.

At Tahoe Valley Elementary, not only were the doors opened, but the red carpet was rolled out, literally. Staff and members of the California Highway Patrol greeted students as they entered the school with fanfare and balloon in celebration of their return.

Not only did the students enjoy the processional, but parents, staff and officers did as well.

"Hello, my name is Walter. I am around 7 months old and I am a good dog. I am house trained and would love to go to training classes to learn good manners. I walk nicely on my leash. I am a little shy to start with but warm up fast if you have a cookie. If you have another dog we should meet first to make sure we get along."
