Lake Tahoe area roadwork August 4-10
Submitted by paula on Sat, 08/03/2019 - 10:43amSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Lake Tahoe Basin and El Dorado County Roadwork schedule for Caltrans projects.
Most traffic-interfering work will be limited from noon Thursday, August 1 through 8 p.m. Monday, August 5 and noon Wednesday, August 7 through 8 p.m. Monday, August 12 for Hot August Nights.
LONG-TERM PROJECTS
State Routes 28/89 (El Dorado and Placer County): Work continues on a $4.8 million project to remove dead and dying trees from State Routes 28 and 89 in various locations of El Dorado and Placer counties. Completion is expected this fall.
Police officers honored during South Lake Tahoe ceremony
Submitted by paula on Thu, 05/14/2015 - 8:22pmRain may have moved the ceremony indoors, but spirits weren't dampened as the South Lake Tahoe Police Department honored some of their own on Thursday in honor of National Peace Officer's Memorial Day.
"We are normal people who are asked to do extraordinary tasks," SLT Police Chief Brian Uhler told the audience of the officer's families, friends, City Council, city staff, community members and other area law enforcement including the El Dorado County Sheriff, CHP and the FBI.
South Lake Tahoe no longer a part of Hot August Nights
Submitted by paula on Tue, 04/28/2015 - 9:16pmFor the past several years, South Lake Tahoe has been a part of Hot August Nights with a few days of local show and shines, cruises and concerts prior to the big annual event in Reno.
This is no longer the case.
Without funding or a local venue to take on the "South Lake Tahoe Experience," Hot August Nights is bypassing the lake in 2015.

What makes this newcomer think its Beaver Burger can unseat the decades old reputation of the Awful-Awful as Reno’s best? “It’s the meat that matters,” says Lucky Beaver co-founder Mike Leeper.

Ski Run closing today to prepare for Hot August Nights
Submitted by paula on Thu, 07/24/2014 - 12:12pmDue to the fire at South Lake Tahoe's Deerfield Lodge overnight, many people may think Ski Run Blvd is closing Thursday due to the fire investigation, but that isn't the case.
As planned, Ski Run Blvd is closing between Forest Avenue and Birch Avenue starting at noon Thursday. The road will remain closed through Saturday.
All side streets are open and detour signs will be on the road.
Hot August Nights cruising into South Lake Tahoe

Cars lining the street with their hoods up, rumbling engines, the sounds of rock and roll, cruising and fun vendors will been seen on the south shore Friday and Saturday, July 25 and 26.

Lake Tahoe casinos at Stateline continue winning streak

Nevada’s nonrestricted gaming licensees reported a total “gaming win” of $886,861,912 for the month of August 2011, 6.10 percent decrease compared to August 2010, when licensees reported a gaming win of $944,457,344. Gaming profits in Stateline in August 2010 were 23,518,599.
