Knorr to continue as interim El Dorado County CAO for one year

In Placerville today the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors unanimously
appointed Pamela Knorr as the Chief Administrative Officer for an interim period of one year. She replaces Terri Daley who resigned after the Supervisors voted to remove her from the position in November, 2014. Daley reached an agreement with the county that paid her nine months of her annual salary of $204,692.

Kudos: LTVA & South Tahoe Refuse thank the community

Recently the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority, in conjunction with South Tahoe Refuse & Recycling, conducted a “drive and drop” at the LTVA’s California Visitors Center, and curbside collection on regular pick-up days. Once again we were overwhelmed by the generous response from our South Lake Tahoe community. Together we collected over 1,500 pounds of food and toys to benefit Christmas Cheer all Year, plus over $1,200 in cash, $1,000 of which was donated by the Kiwanis Club of Lake Tahoe.

Douglas County looking for Clerk/Treasurer to fill anticipated vacancy

In anticipation of the resignation of the county's Clerk/Treasurer Ted Thran, Douglas County is looking for a committee to help find a replacement as well as county residents to fill the position.

Thran resigned in August but was re-elected in November. His second resignation is expected. The term will begin on January 5, 2015.

Whole the Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel is undergoing $8 million dollars in renovations, the leadership of the hotel formerly known as "Embassy Suites" is also undergoing renovations.

The resort just celebrated a year of independence in April 2014 and is putting into place a management structure that throws away the corporate mold, and invests in the resort’s front line -- its staff.

Metal, cement, dirt and trash filling up South Lake Tahoe's refuse center

It's the sign of a busy construction season in South Lake Tahoe: an overflowing dump. Even though exact numbers aren't yet available, the South Tahoe Refuse (STR) has seen more trash coming through this summer than in years past and crews cannot keep up with all of the extra garbage.

Since the refuse center recycles about 60% of what comes through it's gates, staff is kept busy sorting through the all the garbage and unwanted items that come in.

City and Chamber bring back popular business coaching program

Tahoe Tactical Team, the popular business coaching program, is returning due to a federal grant received by the City of South Lake Tahoe. They have joined a partnership with the Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce to bring back the program which helps new business owners start up an enterprise or existing business owners take their businesses to the next level.

Douglas County Looking for Residents to Help Decide Next County Manager

The selection process for a Douglas County Manager is moving forward after Douglas County received over 71 applications. The best qualified candidates are currently being reviewed and are slated to be presented to the Board of County Commissioners on July 17, 2014. Following the selection of top candidates, and interview panel including advisory members from the public will be part of the extensive interview process.

City of South Lake Tahoe Hires New Administrative Services Director

City Manager Nancy Kerry today announced the selection of Mark Carlson as Administrative Services Director. Mr. Carlson is anticipated to begin his service with the City in early April.

South Lake Tahoe City Manager Nancy Kerry announced Friday the appointment of Raymond Jarvis as director of Public Works and Mary Morris as Administrative Services director both of whom will begin their service with the City on August 12.

El Dorado County awards $2.6 million contract to Maine-based Tyler Technologies

The El Dorado County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday awarded a $2.6 million contract to Yarmouth, Maine-based Tyler Technologies to replace its current financial, payroll and human resources systems.

Eleven companies proposed bids and the county spent 18 months researching those bids, according to a news release. The money for the contract will come from the county's reserve for capital projects. Supervisors also OK'd $3 million to hire additional staff to assist with implementation and conversion of the project.

Former Thunder Valley employee sentenced for embezzlement

U.S. District Judge Morrison C. England Jr. sentenced Erika Michele Carlton, 38, of Roseville, to 18 months in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, for theft from an Indian tribal government, United States Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner announced. Judge England also ordered her to pay $236,050 in restitution.

This case was the product of an investigation by the United States Secret Service and the Placer County Sheriff’s Department. Assistant United States Attorney Kyle Reardon prosecuted the case.

Staff and members of the Governing Board at the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency got into the holiday spirit this year by trying to make the holidays a little nicer for some local children and families in need.

“We know many local families are struggling this year,” said Jill Larson, one of the organizers of TRPA’s holiday drive. “The staff really wanted to help,” she said.
