SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office (EDSO) is asking for the public's help in finding a 38-year-old man from South Lake Tahoe.

Eric Zenter was last seen on November 11, 2017 when he left his uncles's home in Meyers. He was reported missing four days later.

Eric’s vehicle was located at the Lake Tahoe Airport on November 18. EDSO Search and Rescue teams conducted an extensive search of the area, but Eric was not located.

Lake Valley, North Lake Tahoe and Tahoe Douglas fire protection districts, California State Parks, California Tahoe Conservancy and the U.S. Forest Service will continue Lake Tahoe Basin prescribed fire operations over the next several weeks, weather permitting. Operations are scheduled to take place at or near D.L. Bliss State Park, Carnelian Bay, Kings Beach, Incline Village, Diamond Peak Ski Resort area, Glenbrook, upper and lower Kingsbury Grade and south and east of the Lake Tahoe Airport.

South Shore

The City of South Lake Tahoe and Tahoe Arts Alliance are partnering for the second art gallery reception on Monday, October 23 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at City Hall located at 1901 Airport Road.

The Tahoe Arts Alliance connects artists, businesses and organizations on the South Shore, and the City’s lobby serves as a blank canvas to display local artists. The art will be rotated throughout the year and all art will be available for purchase.

The City Art Gallery reception will include a meet and greet with displaying artists and city officials. All are welcome to attend.

Hundreds of cities across the country have banned the use of polystyrene (better known as Styrofoam) in their communities. The SLT City Council will be taking a look into banning the substance in the City Limits at their October 17, 2017 meeting.

In 2013, South Lake Tahoe added a ban of single-use plastic bags in grocery stores to the City Code.

The El Dorado County Health and Human Services Agency, Public Health Nursing, will begin conducting low-cost community flu shot clinics on September 27, 2017, with additional clinics offered through November.

The South Lake Tahoe City Council is holding a Cannabis Workshop on Tuesday, August 29 at 5:00 p.m. in their chambers at the Lake Tahoe Airport.

They decided to hold the meeting during the evening hours instead of their normal 9:00 a.m. meeting time in hopes more citizens would attend and speak.

No sales of cannabis are currently allowed in California outside of medical marijuana dispensaries. The state is finalizing their regulations and the City wants to be prepared as those are slated to start January 1, 2018.

During the South Lake Tahoe City Council meeting Tuesday, City Manager Nancy Kerry said former President Bill Clinton may be arriving into town for the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament at Stateline this week.

While the former president isn't scheduled to play golf during the American Century Championship at Edgewood Tahoe this week, he may be arriving at the Lake Tahoe Airport as celebrities are also arriving, said Kerry.

The city has made preparations for his arrival, but there is no guarantee he'll show, she said.

First responders and the public are invited to the South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue's "First Responder Behavioral Health Fair" on Monday, June 26 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Lake Tahoe Airport.

Learn from the experts about the signs and symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), alternative methods on treatment, stress relievers and other ways to maintain good mental health when dealing with high stress jobs such as police and fire.

"The channel looks good and recovery is holding up," said Theresa Cody, Restoration Hydrologist with the U.S. Forest Service. "Water is on the flood plains as its supposed to."

Cody was talking about the $7 million project on part of the Upper Truckee River known as Reach 5. The three-year long restoration project was to improve the river channel stability and aquatic habitat along 1.2 miles of the river adjacent to the Lake Tahoe Airport.

If conditions are favorable around Lake Tahoe next week, the North Lake Tahoe and Tahoe Douglas fire protection districts, California State Parks, California Tahoe Contservancy, and the U.S. Forest Service will be continuing their prescribed fire operations.

Operations are scheduled near Sugar Pine Point, Brockway Summit, Incline Village, Glenbrook, Lower Kingsbury Grade, Ski Run Boulevard, Lake Tahoe Airport, Fallen Leaf Lake and Meyers.

It was very windy overnight in South Lake Tahoe with the highest gust of 56 mph recorded at the Lake Tahoe Airport at 1:03 a.m. Tuesday morning. From 7:00 p.m. Monday to 8:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, winds have stayed in the 30-50 mph range. According to the forecast, winds will 25 mph during the day with gusts as high as 45 mph Tuesday, breezy over night with winds 15-20 mph and gusts to 30 mph.

Alpine Meadows (recorded at 8643 feet) experienced high winds all night with winds at 11:00 p.m. Monday recorded at 144 mph along with gusts of 199 mph.

There are two items on the agenda for a special meeting of the City of South Lake Tahoe City Council on Monday, December 12, 2016 at 9:00 a.m.

Outgoing City Councilmember JoAnn Conner will be recognized with a plaque for her four years of service on the Council.

The other agenda item is the official acceptance of the November 8 election results which put Brooke Laine and Jason Collin on the Council, and passage of Measure P and T. Once accepted, Tuesday's Council meeting will entail the swearing in of the election winners.

Two hot topics for locals were discussed during a Caltrans informational meeting at the Lake Tahoe Airport on Thursday evening: A roundabout and viaduct replacement.

Citing the safety of the intersection of Highway 50 and 89 in Meyers as the catalyst, project managers, engineers and planners unveiled their plans for a three-legged roundabout at the intersection to the dozens of interested citizens who attended.

5:00 p.m. update: According to the Acorn News in Jackson, Calif., the missing Cessna 182 is normally hangared in Amador County. Authorities Continuing Search for Missing Cessna 182. They said the plane was expected at Westover Field on Saturday.

The pilot left Idaho, headed to Jackson during a storm in the Sierra. Many pilots will take a southern route to Westover Field, which takes a plane between Highway 50 and 88. It is unknown at this time which route was taken.

Weather conditions continue to prevent search operations.

The utility relocation work on Highway 50 through South Lake Tahoe the past two years has made way for a major, three-year long Caltrans project that will get underway next Spring.

The project, which is currently out for bid, will be starting in 2017 and will have crews working along U.S. Highway 50 from the "Y" intersection with State Highway 89 to the Trout Creek Bridge once again.

A fire near Spooner Lake brought out multiple agencies and the two SuperScoopers staying at the Lake Tahoe Airport Tuesday afternoon, but the quick response kept the fire at just over 1/2 acre before being contained.

With Red Flag conditions existing at the time, engines and crews from the US Forest Service, Cal Fire, Tahoe Douglas Fire, Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest and BLM all responded to the Spooner Lake State Park after receiving the call at 3:58 p.m.

Low-cost community flu vaccination clinics will start in South Lake Tahoe on September 28 and on October 5 on the West Slope.

The El Dorado County Health and Human Services Agency, Public Health Nursing will be conducting the clinics through mid-November for just $10 per vaccine. No one will be denied service due to inability to pay.

5:00 p.m. update: A small fire that broke out west of the Heavenly Gondola Sunday afternoon has been contained. CalFire will remain at the scene for mop up operations.

An area about 40 feet by 25 feet burned before fire fighters responded and put it out. The original call came in at 3:56 p.m.

Montreal Road in South Lake Tahoe, previously closed to allow fire fighters to get into the area, has been reopened. The gondola had also been shut down for a short time as a safety measure.

Its not every day that a community is able to welcome the President of the United States, and South Lake Tahoe and the surrounding communities are preparing for his August 31 visit.

Helicopters could be seen over the South Shore Monday, and on the ground, South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue worked with the Nevada National Air Guard Fire Department at the Lake Tahoe airport.

Local law enforcement and the Secret Service held meetings to go over procedures and protocol.
