SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - For the second consecutive day a person in South Lake Tahoe was the victim of a hit-and-run. Following Tuesday's collision between a SUV and a woman on a Lime scooter where the driver left the scene, a pedestrian was hit on Wednesday night, and again the driver left the scene.

South Lake Tahoe teen arrested after allegedly stealing truck

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - An 18-year-old South Lake Tahoe man was arrested on Saturday, June 20 after allegedly stealing a truck from outside a home near the Y.

The 2008 Toyota Tacoma was parked overnight and when the owners woke up they say the truck was missing. According to their neighbor's security camera, the truck was taken at 3:30 a.m.

South Lake Tahoe teen headed to intensive law and trial program at Stanford

A 17-year-old high school senior from South Lake Tahoe is headed to Stanford University Law School this summer for an intensive 10-day long session where she will step from the classroom to the courtroom.

Laney Terrell currently attends Visions in Education Charter School and is due to graduate this summer, a full year ahead of schedule. She is also taking classes at Lake Tahoe Community College.

South Lake Tahoe teen killed in San Luis Obispo crash

A South Tahoe High graduate has been identified as the victim in a single car crash on Highway 1 just after 3:00 p.m. Monday, December 3, 2018.

According to a press release from the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff-Coroner, the sole occupant of the vehicle was 18-year-old Zachary Andrew Harris of South Lake Tahoe.

Sheriff's deputies and officers from the California Highway Patrol responded to a single vehicle versus tree collision at Highway 1 and Stenner Creek Road, in-between Cuesta College and San Luis Obispo.

He was declared dead at the scene.

Fundraising account set up for South Lake Tahoe teen who broke neck

On May 28, 2018, 18-year-old Rocky Beaty of South Lake Tahoe suffered a trampoline accident that broke his neck and was transported by medical helicopter to Renown Medical Center in Reno.

Rocky, a student at Lake Tahoe Community College, remains hospitalized in Renown after breaking his C-6 and C-7. A bank account has been set up to cover medical expenses at El Dorado Savings due to mounting costs and unknown future care expenses but they do know it will be extensive.

South Lake Tahoe teen up for Youth of the Year

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - If the name Mya Rossi rings a bell, you would be correct. South Tahoe Now has carried two stories on the 14-year-old, one when she became the Boys and Girls Club of Lake Tahoe Youth of the Year, and the second when she was awarded the Hank Aaron Chasing the Dream Scholarship to attend Science Camp of America: Air and Space in Hawaii.

Now Mya has made it to the Northern California Regional Finals for the Boys and Girls Club of America Youth of the Year Competition.

Teen in stable condition after stabbing self when warrant served at South Lake Tahoe home

A South Lake Tahoe teen is in stable condition tonight after stabbing himself as officers arrived at his home in the 800 block of San Jose Avenue with a no bail warrant for his arrest.

At approximately 12:51 p.m. on March 9, the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office, El Dorado County Probation Department and the South Lake Tahoe Police Department arrived at the juvenile offender's home and asked the suspect to exit the residence.

South Lake Tahoe teen to ride in Inaugural Parade in Washington

South Lake Tahoe native Emily Cefalu will be riding in the Presidential Inaugural Parade Friday as a member of the Culver Girls Academy Equestriennes.

The 17-year-old senior is the daughter of Paige and Christopher Cefalu of SLT.

Emily is part of the 24-member girls mounted unit who will be participating in their eighth inaugural parade. They will be alongside the 56-members of Culver Military Academy's Black Horse Troop who will be at their 17th inauguration.

Public's help sought in locating South Lake Tahoe teen

A South Lake Tahoe teenager has not been heard from since November 2 and his father is asking for the public's help in locating him.

Giovanni Fena, 14, had runaway from home the prior week, but returned on October 31, only to run away again on Wednesday. His dad last saw him then at South Tahoe High school. South Lake Tahoe Police (SLTPD) were contacted on Sunday, November 6 that Fena was missing.

He has been listed in the national database as a missing person according SLTPD Lt. David Stevenson.

Students sought to participate in South Lake Tahoe Teen court

South Lake Tahoe students in grades 8 through 12 are invited to participate in the juvenile justice system through the Teen Court program.

Orientation training will be held on September 29, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Superior Court, Department 4, located at 1354 Johnson Boulevard in South Lake Tahoe. After completing the orientation training, teens will serve as court personnel for real cases in which a minor has committed an offense, admitted the offense and chosen to be judged by his/her peers.

South Lake Tahoe teen named Youth of the Year

Mya Rossi has been named Youth of the Year by the Boys and Girls club of Lake Tahoe because of her outstanding contributions to both the club and her community.

Along with this role she will also be receiving a Heavenly/Kirkwood/Northstar season pass next winter courtesy of the Vail Epic Promise Program.

South Tahoe High grad killed in single car accident near Pope Beach

The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office and California Highway Patrol continue to investigate a single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a South Lake Tahoe teen early Saturday morning.

According to EDSO Lt. Jim Byers, 19-year-old Jillian Pruitt was the lone occupant in a car that collided with a tree on State Route 89 at 3:40 a.m. March 26, 2016.

Byers said the accident is still under investigation and few details are available at this time. He said that circumstance of the crash are making it complex.

South Lake Tahoe Teen Court needs student volunteers

El Dorado County Teen Court in South Lake Tahoe is recruiting new student participants for the spring program. All students going to school in the county in grades 8 through 12 are eligible.

The Teen Court volunteer training will be held on January 21, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the El Dorado County Superior Court, Department 4, located at 1354 Johnson Boulevard in South Lake Tahoe.

South Lake Tahoe teen airlifted to Renown after bicycle accident

An 18-year-old male was airlifted to Renown Medical Center on Tuesday afternoon after being hit by a car on Ski Run Blvd.

The teen, who had recently moved to South Lake Tahoe, was riding his bike southbound near Spruce Drive just before 4 p.m. when he made a left hand turn into the path of a northbound car driven by a South Lake Tahoe woman.

The unidentified cyclist hit the front of the car on the driver's side. He was airlifted with undisclosed injuries.

The driver of the car was uninjured and is cooperating with police.

South Lake Tahoe Teen Victim of Hit & Run in Stable Condition

A 15 year old South Lake Tahoe teen is in stable condition today after being struck by a car, dragged through an intersection, and left in a snow bank at the corner of Washington and Third Streets on Monday evening. The suspect, a male driver, left the scene in a white or off white subaru.

His mother, Aisha Sequoiyah, spoke to SouthTahoeNow.com today from Renown Medical Center in Reno. She said her son Abiyah is doing okay and is undergoing cognitive tests today to determine that there is no brain damage. She hopes he will be released later today.

Tour de Tahoe Success for South Tahoe High Sophomore

South Lake Tahoe teen Mykala Muskovitz completed Sunday's Tour de Tahoe's 72 mile course around Lake Tahoe in just 4.5 hours. While some riders were faster, Mykala's ride was filled with passion and compassion as she rode to raise money to sponsor under privileged dancers at Lake Tahoe's Shining Stars and to buy winter hats and gloves for the children at Live Violence Free.
