South Lake Tahoe teen arrested after allegedly stealing truck

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - An 18-year-old South Lake Tahoe man was arrested on Saturday, June 20 after allegedly stealing a truck from outside a home near the Y.

The 2008 Toyota Tacoma was parked overnight and when the owners woke up they say the truck was missing. According to their neighbor's security camera, the truck was taken at 3:30 a.m.

A police report was generated and there were no suspects at the time. At about 1:15 p.m., South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) Officer Joe Acker spotted the vehicle with three occupants heading eastbound on Lake Tahoe Boulevard. He initiated a high-risk traffic stop since there was no indication of who the occupants were, according to SLTPD Sgt. Doug Sentell.

The three were detained without incident.

Connor Brown, the 18-year-old driver, was arrested on suspicion of auto theft and on an outstanding felony warrant. His bail is set at $100,000.

The other two occupants were let go as there was nothing tying them to the auto theft case, according to Sentell.

The owner of the truck said it came back in good shape.
