Rash of auto thefts in South Lake Tahoe

In just three days, five cars were reported stolen in South Lake Tahoe.

On Thursday, September 10, a man who lives in the 2400 block of William Avenue called police to report his car stolen. When police arrived, they found out the man had lent the car to someone who hadn't returned it.

The following day, a white Ford F250 with a rack was reported stolen in the 1000 block of William. It has not been recovered and there are no suspects. The Nevada license plate number is NRC917.

Three cars were stolen on Saturday, September 12.

South Lake Tahoe pair arrested on felony drug trafficking charges

Two from South Lake Tahoe were arrested Thursday on felony drug trafficking and other charges after a traffic stop led to the discovery of methamphetamine and heroin, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Elizabeth Gosh, 30, and Kyle Leake, 48, were taken into custody at 7:04 p.m. and booked into Carson City Jail. According to the arrest report, deputies with the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team were patrolling in an unmarked car and observed a white two door sedan with California plates run through a solid red strop light at the intersection of Roop and Long streets.

Four arrested in Meyers for terrorizing a man

Four men were arrested Sunday on suspicion of terrorizing a man who tried to get their license plate number.

According to the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office (EDSO), on Sunday, July 26, at 7:45 p.m., a resident of Meyers witnessed a car full of men pull up to the stop sign at the intersection of East San Bernardino Avenue and Apache Drive. He told deputies he saw them roll down a window and shoot what he thought a gun at the sign.

With rising temperatures pet owners need to be aware that the temperature inside vehicles can reach 120 degrees in a matter of minutes, even with the windows opened slightly.

Military deserter accused of sexual assault arrested in Reno

A traffic stop on I580 near Neil Road in Reno on Monday evening led to the arrest of a military deserter accused of the sexual assault of a minor.

At approximately 9:45 p.m. on June 8, Sergeant Mike Edgell of the Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) pulled over a black 2011 Yamaha motorcycle for not having an operating tail lamp.

Counterfeit bills on rise in El Dorado County; One arrest made

Several counterfeit bills have been used for transactions on the west slope of El Dorado County, even days after the arrest of one suspect. On May 8, the Sheriff Deputies were called to the Round Table Restaurant in Pollock Pines after a man tried to buy food with a counterfeit $100 bill. He and a woman left before deputies arrived but a description of the pair and their vehicle was provided to EDCSO.

Police seek public's help in locating missing Placerville teen

Placerville police are looking for Tyler Demars, an at risk teen who was last seen on July 12.

He is described as 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighing 160 pounds, with brown hair and eyes. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, and a tan and brown shirt. He drives a green Honda Civic with a Batman license plate frame.

Anyone with information regarding Demars whereabouts is asked to call the Placerville Police Department at (530) 642-5280.

Sand Harbor Shuttle Service in Place for Summer

There is a park and ride system for Sand Harbor in place once again for the summer of 2014.

In it's third year, the Tahoe Transportation District’s East Shore Express, the shuttle bus provides rides Incline Village to Sand Harbor. They are able to do so with a federal grant and funds gathered from the selling of Lake Tahoe License Plates.

3 Cars Stolen in 16 Hours in South Lake Tahoe; 3 Suspects Arrested

Three Placerville 18 year olds have been arrested in connection with three auto thefts that took place in South Lake Tahoe between 7 p.m. March 31 and 11 a.m. April 1. The trio is also suspected in stealing contents from other cars as well.

Brian Barnes, Elija Kidwell and Sean Murphy were arrested and book into El Dorado County Jail on felony charges of auto theft, possession of stolen property and conspiracy for at least one of the auto thefts and to some of the property thefts.

South Lake Tahoe police reports recent surge in auto thefts, attempted thefts

During the nine days of July, the South Lake Tahoe Police Department has investigated several thefts and attempted thefts of vehicles in the City. The targeted victim vehicles appear to be vans in particular.

Douglas County authorities ask for help in locating missing woman

Douglas County Sheriff’s Office investigators are seeking the public’s help in locating a missing 63-year-old woman. Kathy Arlana Hammond was reported as a missing person by a friend on Sunday, Feb. 17. Hammond was last seen at approximately 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15.

Hammond is reported to be mentally unstable, and has threatened suicide in the past. Hammond is reported to be driving a 4-door 1993 Subaru Legacy sedan, teal green in color, bearing California license plate 3CKF797.

The environmental non-profit Tahoe Fund announced Thursday the launch of the Lake Tahoe License Plate ‘Plate Spotter’ program to reward owners of Lake Tahoe license plates with free lift tickets during the 2013 Winter season. New Lake Tahoe license plates are appearing on the vehicle fleets of major ski resorts and businesses in the Tahoe Basin, as support for the Tahoe plate program in California and Nevada continues this winter.
