American Century Golf Championship Distributes Over $145,000 to Local Non-Profits

Youth Theatre Carson City is excited to announce our upcoming production of "Aladdin and His Wonderful, Magical Lamp," a magical adaptation of the classic tale, Friday through Sunday Jan. 11-13 at the Carson City Community Center and Jan. 18 at Piper’s Opera House in Virginia City.
The cast and crew are comprised of over 70 local children ages 5 to 18, who play all the classic characters including Aladdin, his pet monkey Alakazam, The Princess Jasmine and her handmaidens, the evil Jammal and his sister Halima, and not just one…but 3 Genies!

I am a big believer in balance. Balancing work and play, exercise and relaxation, the to do’s and the to don’ts. Unfortunately, it seems that many times our virtual see-saw gets pretty lopsided and we’re left stranded in the air with toes dangling, or completely weighed down without any way to get on our feet.

New storm to arrive on Sunday; ski resorts prepare for brisk business

Ski resorts report up to 2 feet of snow from the system which arrived Friday and continues today. The National Weather Service in Reno reports that a second and much colder storm will move into the area on Sunday into Monday, dropping temperatures and bringing more snow. “We’re fortunate to have the support from LIVESTRONG, NBC Sports and American Century Investments to assist to the local community,” said Carol Chaplin, executive director of the LTVA in a news release. “In addition to an outstanding event which attracts visitors, our 22-year partnership also helps local groups in need.”

South Lake Tahoe city budget fight looms large; layoffs eminent

Seventeen positions are still on the chopping block. At least half of those positions are linked to street maintenance and snow removal operations. While negotiations between the bargaining units and the city continue to be held, there is a hint of an impasse — while the city functions on only an interim budget until the end of the month.
