A Winter Storm Warning issued by the National Weather Service is in effect through Monday morning for Lake Tahoe and the Sierra as a strong series of systems moves into the region.
Periods of light to moderate snow will begin Friday and intensive early Saturday morning with moderate to heavy snow Saturday through Sunday night.

Festival of Trees and Lights begins Thursday

Throughout the last three-years, Barton Foundation has dedicated funds raised from The Festival to Barton Health’s Community Clinic expansion and renovation. A Level III trauma center, located in Barton Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department (E.D.), is this year’s fundraising initiative.

For 10 years the Tahoe Adventure Film Festival has taken its viewers on a celluloid and digital tour filled with rapid-succession footage and no-holds-bar outdoor drama played out across continents, continental shelves and all points in between.
The film festival returns to Lake Tahoe, Saturday, Dec. 8, at MontBleu Resort Casino and Spa, and promises plenty of mountaintops, cliffhangers and enough high-energy entertainment between showings to ignite fervor for the New Year and its spectrum of outdoor adventure sports. Proceeds will benefit the Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides skiing and snowboarding programs and events for regional youth and local middle school and high school students. The swap runs Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.

Pedestrian doing OK after Sunday hit and run accident in Stateline
Submitted by Editor on Mon, 10/01/2012 - 1:14pmA 25-year-old man suffered a broken right femur and head trauma after being hit by a vehicle early Sunday morning at a crosswalk on Highway 50 in Stateline. Authorities are looking for the driver of the SUV that hit him and left the scene, which happened across from MontBleu Resort Casino and Spa.
The injured California man was flown by Care Flight to Renown Medical Center in Reno where his injuries are considered non-life threatening, said Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Barbara Stapleton.
